Uncharted 4 A Thiefs End

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum but I've been watching the progress of reproducing the uncharted journals since U2, clearly everyone pulls together and it's great work I've seen, as for the actuall journal of U4, I agree with a previous message of considering the amount of notes and parchment inserts it may be difficult to close the book. I myself am working on an U2 journal but hope to make an U4 one also, some of the colouration on the older pirate memos looks very pleasing and I think they will be fun to replicate for variation! For those playing, you can view the journal once you complete the game under bonus section of main menu, and you can replay chapters for missed notes. I think it will be tricky on pages where a folder map/memo covers the illustration/writing underneath

Hey guys just messing around with some of the images on the pages. There's probably people who could do better but I was bored so I thought I's give some of them a shot.

-snip-

Hope they will work for someone.

Nice job! I plan to redo some of them in Illustrator later on, though I can't say when so please don't wait on me, but I will post them when I'm able to get around to doing them.

I see another problen ahead.
Considering the amount of journal notes (many of which are folded) its going to be impossible to close the journal once its done.

Yeah, I had the same thought. The only thing I can think of to alleviate that is to maybe cut some pages out as close to the binding as possible so it isn't noticeable. The loss of pages would help make up for the thickness of the folded notes, of which there are 23. According to the amazon listing, the moleskin art plus sketchbooks have 104 pages, so you could stand to lose a handful of pages, but not enough it would seem.

I think 100 including the 4 blank pages at the end.

Edit:
I just took a look and if you count the first on the left and the last on the right as the front and back inside cover then there are 100 pages. This is including the empty spread that is skipped when flipping because he had torn the corner of a page to make the little squares with the sigils on them. If you also include the 3 leafs he tears out to make the see-through map thing, that's totals his journal to 106 pages by my count.

So the moleskin has 104 pages, snd thr game journal has 106.
Hmmm.. Thst could be a problem.
Unless, we go ahead and simply make the look like its torn by drawing the torn page, thus saving 2 pages for a total if 104.

Edit: just figured out what you meant by usIng more pages for the little squares. We could easily use other paper for that.
I happen to havr an extra moleskine i use for sketching. I could tear the pages out of that.

Btw, those photos posted earlier, with the shoreline logo, and the photo of the mountain- if you want a higher resolution of that mountain pic just go here - http://gear.playstation.com/en-us/art/lithographs-limited.html

Here's the page I was referring to:

You can see he's torn half of the page. The other side of that torn page and the opposite page of that spread (the ones the squares are resting on) are completely skipped when flipping through the journal. If you include them in the paper count the journal pages total 100. He's never explicitly shown tearing out another page for the other 7 sigils, but it looks like he could make 6 from a sheet, so you can probably assume he needed 2 sheets for those. What is shown in that same area though is Nate tearing out 3 sheets to make the map. I guess an accurate page count would be 110 pages to begin with, but the journal as it is completed at the end of the game is 100 pages. Sorry if I made it confusing by talking about pages that aren't in completed journal. With a 104 page mole skin you could remove 2 leafs (probably between the torn and full pages) and use them for the sigils while still having the correct number of pages in your finished journal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I noticed something that may be worth noting. On the journal pages with lemurs there is a post-it note. Post-it's come in different sizes, but standard size is 3"x3". If you size the post-it to standard size, the pages become roughly 6"x9".

I just finished up the beer label. Not 100% accurate, but pretty close. I made it in 2 sizes since I'm not sure how people plan to do their journals. The first is scaled with Nate's journal if the width were 5". If his journal pages were 5" wide the length would be roughly 7.75", so you could potentially hack the bottom of a 5x8.25 journal off to get the right ratio. The second is for those using the 5x8.25 moleskin and intend to stretch Nate's pages down the extra .5" to fill the journal page.

Great Job Lambzilla, I'll be using that in my journal for sure, it's top notch! thank you for sharing

Thank you, I'm happy to help. I'll be doing more things over in the future and I will be sure to post them here for anyone to use.

I edited my previous post with the 2 albums of journal pages to include the following link which shows just the spreads non-zoomed:

I was just about to start this project, when I realized I needed to clear something up before I mess it up from the very beginning. Are you all making pages 1&2 (the very first blank page and the page with the Joseph Burnes letter - pic attached below) the inside cover and the "In case of loss, please return to:" of your Moleskine? Or, are you all making pages 1&2 the first blank pages in the Moleskine?

Is anyone thinking of making Nathan's mums journal that you find? I only have these few pages but there might be more that I didn't see? The journal looks to be a lot bigger than Nathan's and is has a white leather cover.

I finished the game 2 days ago (Amazon waited 9 days before shipping my pre-odered game :angry )
Started back through on Explorer last night to see if I can find all the extra entries, I have the DX cheat book (the one that comes with the coin) to look through so I know how many are in each chapter of the game.

Besides the journal there are lots of other paper props of interest, the warrant for Avery (Every).
Nate's file at the orphanage, assorted photos and letters in the homes.
Drawings, Maps and Magazine covers in the final chapter.

Been snapping pix like crazy of anything of interest.

I've stopped preordering with amazon anymore due to their crap shipping. On a slightly off note it wouldn't be too hard to photoshop the voice actors into photos of the characters for a more realistic journal. You put a mustache and some hair on Sulley's actor and he looks pretty close lol

I personally leave the "in case of loss" pages blank and start on the first clean double spread.
