Interest Tobin's Spirit Guide by Magnoli Props!

Yeah, we're playing around with a few ideas at the moment trying to work out what will give the best result at the lowest cost. I ballparked the initial estimate based on our Red Book of Westmarch, which is 300 pages ALL handdrawn and hand written, which took me two years to make. This should be an easier project... but it can be done in many way from relatively easy to super-involved. Stay tuned...

I'm really excited to see what you end up coming up with!! I'm a BIG fan of your Ghostbuster releases, so this is an exciting prospect!

...and so it begins...

I just peed a little with excitement.

I only have one criticism, and it’s slow down!!! I’m skint at the minute and there’s no way I want to miss this!!

Will these be available on demand or just a one run. I don’t frisée any issue with buying etc once they’re released, but just in case!

I would hate to miss out on this one!

The plan is to do a single run. We'll have more news as we progress.... but there is a lot of layout work to be done first... estimating 750 pages at the moment!
I always thought it was a really cool idea that people could submit entries from therpf to use in the book. Hopefully if option 3 ends up coming to fruition something similar is possible.

Ok guys... I've talked to Michael Bergeron, and he's happy for us to pick up the torch from his previous projects:

I'll be sending PMs out to those who offered help, but if I miss you, please drop us a line if you're interested in contributing to this project.

At the moment, I'm formatting the 1903 Encyclopedia of Superstitions that was used in the Afterlife prop and starting to make a template for adding new information in the new style. I'm estimating we'll need about 750 pages to fill this book accurately. I've already got more than enough to fill it up using the 1903 book, but as I started, I thought we might as well do a proper Tobin's along the vein of what Michael had already started, then we could just pad the remaining pages with excerpts from the Encyclopedia.

So, with that being said, and hoping I haven't bitten off more than I can chew... if you're interested in helping, post here and I'll contact you with how you can assist.

Kind regards,
Indy

I wrote an entry for his back in the day but write novels on the side of my day job. I would be happy to write a few more entries if you need anything.

Does that mean the option 1 & 2 are now out the window and you’ll be exclusively designing the option 3 only??

I’m sure it will be cool, and I’d want the best but will need a bit more time to come up with funds in that case!!!!

I may be able to help in some way. I'm not sure how as I'm not much of a writer, but let me know!

Any help is definitely appreciated! Send me a PM and we can discuss this further about how you'd like to contribute. Once I get a few guys on board, I'll start a post keeping track of who is working on what so we make sure we're not doubling up.

Yes, I think we'll scrap the DIY and blank book ideas now in favor of the full book. I've looked into printing options and combined with guys helping fill up the content, I think we can bring the price down to a much lower number... more on this in the near future.

For those who would like to help but don't want to do any creative writing, they could help transcribe some of the text from the RPG PDF, for example, and other such tasks that will help lighten the load. If you're interested to help in this way, send me a PM and I'll let you know how you can help.

Kind regards,
Indy

That's a shame the other options are discounted, as it's likely to be out of my price range for the foreseeable if it's anywhere near the original suggested price for such a book. Although I admit the direction is now pretty epic, and I'd love to have it.

I will keep an eye on the run anyway, as you know that I had a particular interest in seeing this happen....Hopefully it might fall in my price remit.

I'm also happy to help with any creative writing or transcribing. I had for the last several months been studying various books on demon/occult/spiritual experiences with a view to pulling together my own text for my own recreation, and happy to lend a hand with this version.

You have my details if you need any help, and will continue to keep an eye on developments to see if the pricing is workable for me.

One thing I would also say - is please don't fill this book with random encounters/ghosts seen in GB1/2/Afterlife or RGB.....As if it's to be authentic, it should be containing details of random Ghosts that we've seen in media before. Exceptions can be of course made for Ghosts who have a historic base, for example. Samhain is a great example. A very famous entity in the Real Ghostbusters, but has a very strong historical base which can be documented. (Samhain is a figure emanating based Pagan ceremony which eventually led to the Holiday we now call Halloween).

I do hope that there's going to be some degree of editorial approval....Because I would hate to see a very expensive "prop" with a gorgeous leather bound cover end up containing the childish text that was contained in the commerical Tobins Guide....It would really kill the appeal if we have stuff such as "Muncher is a blue Ghost....He eats lots of things, and was first spotted in Oklahoma in the Summer of 2021....The End"

Don't worry... I'm a stickler for this kind of thing. I've already tweaked some of the RPF text to bring it more in line with the period the book should have been written. There will be no mention of Ghostbusters, marshmallow men, or any other anachronistic details that might ruin the illusion. The end result should really look like an old tome from the 1920s.
