Interest Tobin's Spirit Guide by Magnoli Props!

View attachment 1731375

We're looking into doing a limited run of Tobin's Spirit Guide based on the version seen in Afterlife. We've got a few ways of doing this, so I thought we could get your input as to how you'd like to see this offered. At the moment, we've got the following ideas:

1) A finished cover (embossed leather with gold accents on hardcover cardstock). This would be a DIY project where you would have to find a matching sized book and add the cover yourself. We could make a tutorial as to how to do this, but it would certainly be the most affordable option. At a rough guess price would be $50-$100.

2) A finished "fake" book... basically same as above, but we do the work for you to add it to an existing random second-hand book. We could age the exterior of the pages so it looks like a realistically finished old book. Price would be around $150-$200.

3) A full-on replica of the guide full of text, illustrations, etc. This would change this "simple" project to a HUGE undertaking. We could open this up to community contributions to lighten the work load, but the sheer amount of work to get this done would push this verison into the $600-$800 price range. Because of the thickness of the book, I think we'd still only do a limited number of unique pages, then repeat them several times (but perhaps have the page numbering continue correctly).

So... post your interest, your thoughts, your preference and we'll see what eventuates. If you're happy with version 1 or 2, we could actually start this immediately as the cover graphics are finished and ready to go to press.

Kind regards,
Indy

Version 3 would be absolutely AWESOME!! I'd buy it in a New York (see what I did there? ) minute!!

I have an additional x2 people requesting option 3, so x3 people in total for option 3.
I can vouch for them seeing that they're family and they already own a certain number of Magnoli Props and Clothes - GB Jumpsuits being two of them!

They could use the real Tobin's spirit guide content (1904 published book) used in Afterlife.

(the real book is too old for licencing constraints).

"ACTUAL (HISTORICAL) 1904 TOBIN'S SPIRIT GUIDE FOUND (GHOSTBUSTERS SCREEN USED CANON)":

Just search GBfans for that title post

The actual screen used books in Afterlife (that podcast is reading from) are:

"Manual of mythology : Greek and Roman, Norse, and old German, Hindoo and Egyptian mythology"by Murray, A. S. (Alexander Stuart), 1841-1904"

and

"Encyclopedia of superstitions, folklore, and the occult sciences of the world"-Cora Linn Daniels 1903"

Free PDF's of both are available on the internet as they are too old for copyright

This is actually a fantastic idea. Both books combined would be over 1,000 pages. If it was scaled to the size of the movie one, that might bring it down to 500 to 600 pages. Maybe include a section at rough center between the two books that was custom made ghostbusters content; that way it's still a functional prop replica, but doubles as an informative read.

Option 3 is my vote, but it's abit steep in price especially since there's the essential guarantee of repeated pages. For one there's enough lore from all three official timeline movies, plus comics and rgb cartoon series to not repeat yourself.
The undertaking itself wouldn't actually cost as much as you make out and clukd easily go for about $400 dollars max amd still make profit
