A handful of tricorders circulate amongst The Wand Company staff as the final software issues revealed by random button pressing and different usage styles get checked off and resolved. We love them. When they leave our desks to get programmed with the latest software we miss them; those crisp accurate lines, the calm retro-future way they keep time and constantly remind us what we love about making prop replicas.​

Very soon you will join us in these daily delights. Sooner than that, we will start the countdown to pre-ordering as the final statutory tests are completed and the production line gets ready to start actually making tricorders in larger quantities.​

Currently the start of production is set for December 28, 2024 (although that of course could change) and both Andrew and James (last seen in action at San Diego Comic-Con) are gearing up to go out to China just after Christmas to handhold the start of the manufacturing process. They will be there to make sure the tricorders are just how we want them to be as they start rolling off the production line.​

Given the time taken to finish the tricorder, we plan to ship the first units from the factory to our warehouses in the UK and the US by air. Thus hopefully we will begin shipping them out to those customers that registered first by early February. More details on that arrangement to follow later.​

But this is as close as a hard ship date as we've yet been given by Wand, and they have been so reluctant to commit in the past that I think they must have high confidence to put this in their update. Note that they say "early February", not "February" or even "Q1".
 
I was looking at grabbing a Diamond Select tricorder to display in the mean time, but after looking at what the
DS tricorders are going for at the moment, I'll just wait for the Wand Company. On eBay the DS tricorders are going
for almost what the Wand Company tricorder will be retailing for. Crazy!

Those DS prices have been skyrocketing for awhile. Insane as they are poorly made. Bought one for a friend for her Bday and we were playing around with it and the buttons in the display just pushed in after several pushes making it totally obsolete! I know it's a toy but come on! That's whey I never press any buttons on mine. I just use it as a display piece. It's definitely not worth the 100's of dollars these scalpers want. Is it even worth the 65-70 bucks that I paid for mine and my friends gift??? Hell no!

So looking forward to the Wand Company Tricorder! Man the wait is so worth it!

I got the same update. As I mentioned I'll believe the ship date when they actually start .

I believe them for the simple fact that this is the first actual solid date they’ve given. It’s not like they’ve given six other dates and have retracted them.

Did this update come via email? if so, I didn’t receive it. Looking at the blog on their website, the last one I’m seeing is number 21.
