The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

Finishing out the night PST…..in terms of LCD displays

I came across this interesting YT vid…6+ min…of a person using a 24pin LCD to replace a 20pin LCD in a phone.

It’s in a different language but what he does is obvious and it works!

I think starting from pin 1 on either of the connectors are the power and control signals most common to lcd displays.
After those control signals then starts the data lines (RGBs)….

For example purposes….2 different mfg’s to illustrate the commonalities…of the power and control signals.

Apparently, as I see it….I suspect the phone’s LCD controller recognizes not having the 4 extra data lines (RGB lines) and compensates for it so that the display will still look correctly…colors and all….as if it were a 20pin LCD.

Nice to know….

I am speculating that due to tariffs and higher profit margins, , the price will go up.
They already bumped the price up for the tariff and shipping in batch to Amazon U.S. I bought mine pre-tariff from Amazon U.K., and those that bought post-tariff from Amazon U.S. paid $33 more than I did, depending on their state tax level. That doesn’t exactly break the bank.

You know whats really sad...

I wonder if i can replace the insert bit for a thinner one?
EDIT: I guess I could also change the screw...
I didn't even think about this and had to try it with my replacement screws. Turns out it fitted the ones on the sides perfectly but the pan head on the back was a bit too narrow.
I'd already spent a bit of time reshaping it so that it had a nicer curve to it so just went back and widened the slop and now the screwdriver works. Definitely helps tie the sets together a bit better.

I was thinking yesterday that if I end up needing to open up the back fairly often I would maybe change out the bolt/screw for one like this that I could undo by hand

I don't know how good of a look we ever get of this fastener in the show and if having a screw-head like this is a canon faux pas

Then when I was trying to fall asleep last night I suddenly remembered about that flat-head and started wondering if there was some way to maybe mount it in my lower compartment. I thought about a clip like this:

But when i went and got it from the phaser case this morning i realized how big it is and now I think i will have to scrap the idea

oh well

Just have it clamped in vertically while attached to the door. It fits perfectly next to a medical scanner.
