The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

This is a simple 3d printed scanner for under $20 I picked up. Not bad. It fits in the tricorder. The wife rolled her eyes.

Looks like most folks like the lighted moire' :)
I honestly just left it on by default. I turned it off for a bit when testing everything and you can't really see it. So I can see why they made the choice they did. I also wish it was less of a warm tone to the light but then again, mid-century, maybe a warm bulb fits better.
I don't mind it. Knowing it can be turned off is good enough for me.

I didn't think I'd like it, but the moiré is so damn dark without it, I always leave it on. My only quibble is I wish they'd included the option to switch that LED to daylight color temperature, but that's not a huge deal.
Can you upload a short video unlimited?

Us non tricorder owners would like to see ;)

If you tilt it back so the light hits it, it's more visible, but standing vertically, it's in the shadow. Even harder to see in real life than it is in the video, when standing up. just looks like a dark gray circle.

Thanks, I see what you mean. You almost have to have it lighted to see it. That's OK though it still gives you the option for no light.
yeah, outside or under studio lights I'm sure it would show up fine. but under normal indoor lighting conditions while standing vertically on a desk or the display stand, it's pretty hard to see in real life.

Interesting--just had my first real tricorder glitch. It froze completely. The buttons became unresponsive, closing the hood wouldn't shut it off, nothing. I was going to do a factory reset, but I figured I try something less drastic first. So I pulled the battery and put it back in. Voilà, fixed.
