The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

I'm guessing that we might see order e-mails go out this upcoming week. Just a guess.

It's coming for sure!
But so are the tariffs.
I wont be paying $857 for the tricorder.
I'll wait for the tariffs to go away/drop drastically or not get one.
The race is to see what happens first. I get the email to purchase or May 2nd.

I have 10 or 11 days.

According to Andrew Stockdale's Instagram account, it's early May. They've got the first wave in, and there were a few minor issues with a few scratched boxes, and one defective disk. It sounds like they're actually getting pretty good quality out of the manufacturing.

Yes, unless something unforeseen happens (there are trade talks ongoing as we speak), the tariffs will hit us. I'm buying mine anyway. But not the second one I'd planned on, at least till there's some kind of change in the trade situation.

It's a shame because I don't care about a scratched box in the grand scheme of the tricorder.
A defective disk is another thing, but I would put up with it to get it before the May 2nd deadline as long as they
would warranty it.
But I completely understand them not wanting to send out product with known defects.

It just seems a shame that after all these years of waiting I could be thwarted by this issue.

Maybe I'm an outlier, but I won't pay the high tariffs on this.
Heck, maybe I'll fly to the UK and by one and bring it back with me. At least I will get a trip to the UK out of it.
But customs would probably not like that.

You're probably not an outlier, and I don't blame you.

As for flying to the UK, that would indeed evade the tariffs, since de minimis is still applicable for items you bring back with you from a trip. But it's a pretty costly way to do it...

Yah, but as I said at least I get a trip to the UK. I fact we are planning one this fall to walk the Cotswold 100. So 2 birds with one stone. Thats if I can pick it up at a brick and mortar retailer. Or maybe Amazon UK has drop boxes like they do here.
It's good to know that the de minimis will still apply to me carrying it back!

Make sure you double-check that before you buy! Things could change between now and then.

Yah, good advice. Also hopefully by then both sides wise up and agree to mutually beneficial terms.
If you're going to the Cotswolds, are you going to tour any Midsomer Murders locations?

Yes, definitely check--now I can't find where I originally read that goods brought back in personal luggage would still be subject to de minimis. Because of course I can't.

It’s in one of those shredded ‘Matlock’ files…

One thing that surprises me is that the asking prices for the MR tricorders haven't come down on fleabay. Anyone with $1300 to buy an MR can afford to wait a few weeks and get a Wand. Makes no sense to keep pricing MRs at those levels. And as far as I can tell, they're not moving.

Looks like there are three MR tricorders on fleabay right now, ranging from $1K to $1.5K. I can't see any way to tell how long they've been up, but I've been seeing them at least a week. I'll be very surprised if they move at those prices. I wouldn't give you $100 for one.
