Caught some crucial information for IDing the S3 pants during my rewatch. Apparently, they have some kind of drawstring waist (which explains why he doesn't wear a belt... at least until the final episode). So, everything we know:

1.) Black
2.) Made of twill or similar, rough material
3.) Two front pockets, two back pockets (each with a button)
4.) Drawstring waist

EDIT: Pants are by a designer named James Perse. They're modified for the show.

Okay, last post, I swear! Imagine my surprise during the rewatch when we get a full close-up of the Muay Thai ropes! It's still a brainteaser trying to mentally unravel them, but this screenshot will be invaluable towards getting a "close enough" wrap.

The James Perse "Soft Drape" pants seem to match well - though they were as expensive as the S1 pants, when they were available, and potentially from the womens' line. You can see the details better in this green pair than in shots of the black, compared with the screengrab from above:

I know they're modified for the show, but removing those belt loops would be pretty destructive to the material... Are there any better shots to screen grab in the show? The pockets are pretty distinctive between these Perse pants from style to style. How many rear pockets should there be?

The pants have belt loops at least on the back, I'm pretty sure. (He's suddenly wearing a belt in the S3 finale, so it's gotta have something.) I've only been able to catch two rear pockets, each with a button. If I have time this week, I'll try to get a few more screen grabs. I know there's a few decent shots of the back, but the front is usually covered by the bottom of his shirt.

Well, when you're right, you're right! The pants don't actually have belt loops. What I saw before seem to be some sort of pleat? I also grabbed a shot of the front, but there isn't much going on there.

EDIT: If the Utility Pant wasn't the base, then it was something similar. The back pockets are almost a perfect match, and the pant has the same pleat/seam over the pocket. Although, the Utility Pant has just one centered over the pocket, and the show has two on either end of each pocket.

One more screenshot that I grabbed in order to help reverse-engineer the handwraps. Unfortunately, it's still kind of a clusterf*ck to figure out, particularly since the rope goes over and under the black wraps at multiple points.

Were they an eBay find? Anything at all to ID the style would be much appreciated!

I've got a pair on the way, but I don't know if I'll even fit in them... Motivation to get cut for the costume, I guess. Heh.

Yes, this pair was an eBay find - I found a similar pair on another clothing site, but it only had one pocket on the back. There's no "name" on this accurate pair, but there was a number which might be a model ID. I'll take a look today and post it for you guys! What's the pair you have on the way? Do they match the reference?

I bought a pair of the MCU1197 Utility Pants on eBay. It was the last pair I could find anywhere, so I pulled the trigger even though they seem to be one size too small.

They're a decent match for the reference. They have the drawstring waist but also belt loops, and the pockets match. I'm interested to see the color, as the seller's photos show different shades of grey depending on the lighting. If nothing else, I'm sure I can dye them if they come up a little too light.
