The Definitive Marvel's Daredevil thread

What color were yours originally? They look pretty dark on your Instagram (nice pic, by the way). I'm wondering if it would be worth it to change out the zippers. :unsure

Thanks! I'll have better photos to share after tonight and tomorrow as I'll be doing some photo shoots.

The pants were the 'Dune' color and after dying them, the zippers ended up being a greenish hue. But that was also after all the dying and hand coloring with fabric pens. The zippers just won't take dyes it would seem.

I am considering having the material for the red suit printed similar to dye sub but not on lycra I just can't decide what the repeating pattern on his suit is in the promo pics it looks like a simple brick or diamond effect but the pics of the screen-used suit and screenshots the suit is so dam shiny I can't make the pattern out. Any feedback

I have found this lycra infused vinyl and thinking of darkening it for my daredevil suit.
Opinions? Screenshot_2015-05-31-21-23-57.png

That looks pretty good, better for Ant-Man than Daredevil but it still looks pretty cool.
I haven't seen anything for antman lol dunno why just have no interest in it lol I'm hoping with the material being darker it will have a similar look

The problem with that promo shot: it's not enough that the sheen appears to be different, or that it almost looks to be lighter-colored bricks atop a darker fabric, but the pattern is all wrong! That is definitely not the fabric we see on the finished suit!

Let's ignore for a moment that the black on the collar appears to simply be ribbed, with no print, shall we? Just look at the red, there's a huge difference between that and the onscreen suit. Promo shot's standard brick pattern:

Final fabric's alternating pattern:

Vertical rows show in the pattern in virtually every shot on and off the set. Close-ups and hi-res shots show the pattern to be what looks like two rows of vertically oriented bricks followed by two rows of smaller bricks with an alternating height. Rinse, repeat.

This is a really rough mockup of what I'm seeing (staggering is off, sorry if that hurts the eyes)

I don't think we're going to find anything off-the-shelf, though I've been keeping my eye out for good lookalikes :)

I'm new here but am interested in starting a Daredevil build (the black suit version). I read through most of this thread and saw at least 3 different versions of compression shirts used in the show, but I didn't see anyone post a screen-grab of this shirt, unless I just missed it -- (from episode 2) It has stitching in a different place, almost cutting across the pecs. Sorry if someone already posted this shirt.

I thought the same thing when I first started looking and was half tempted to see if I could get fabric made I think what I have found will have to do for myself for now as o just cant justify spending so much on a custom material but I will be looking into it a little nore the fabric o have found is loads of interlocking bricks so its not miles off of what you have posted the other option could be printing a flat pattern of what you just posted then going over it in flat puff paint to get the sheen

I think the best bet at the moment, in lieu of silkscreening thousands of tiny gloss bricks onto fabric, is to look for something with a tight but visible weave. I've been looking around for an interim solution (I'd hoped to find a basketweave in alternating matte/gloss merlot) but haven't had much luck. But still, I found a few samples that can give you a idea of what you can find...

None of it is perfect, but there are still options for an off-the-shelf fabric if you're willing to sacrifice mobility for aesthetics. As for me, I'm planning on silkscreening all those thousands of tiny gloss bricks but that won't be for a long while...

Oh, right, almost finished with my model for the billy clubs! Click for bigger :)

Just a few more tweaks to the locking mechanism and I think I can call it done :)

For me as I want lots of mobility I think im going to go with the vinyl and maybe when you do the silkscreen I can commission you to get a set for me :-D I also have no plans to follow the exact suit there are little things im going to change all over including adding the DD symbol to the chest having more red then black ect
Sticks are looking great but isn't it meant to be knurled rather then loads of rings? (might just be my phone screen is small)

I skimped on the anti-aliasing to save render time, you need to see it in full-res to make out the knurling. But I assure you it's there! :p

Made some more cleanup progress on my helmet print. Almost ready to mold, since I don't want to highjack Luke's thread, here is a link to my thread. :) #28

Someone posted early on that this was Nike's Combat Pro Core Compression shirt, with a panel added to cover the Nike swoosh and another on the opposite side to make it symmetrical. We know the production added a lot of red stitching to even the shirts that had it already, so it's not a stretch of the imagination:

I think for the arm and elbow pads I will use stretch fabric and quilt batting and scratchbuild them as accurate as possible. McDavid stuff is hard to come by up here and ordering online isn't really an option for me right now.

I'll post progress if I make any.

Hello all!

IMG_20150603_185227 - Copy.jpg
I recently ordered the Ringers 557. There's only one problem--my Matt gloves aren't matte! The carbon fiber piece across the knuckles has a glossy coat instead of a dull one. Has anyone else experienced this? I ordered from here, and as you can see, the display photo is of the matte gloves: http://aboloxsafety.com/gloves/law-...aw-enforcement-carbon-tactical-glove-stealth/

Most Ringers 557 stock photos are matte, but I did find some glossy ones here and there. It looks like both types are going by the same SKU. First the shirt, now the gloves. :( I'd like to get a screen accurate pair, but if I'm going to be getting the glossy kind no matter where I order from, there's not much point in returning these and trying again somewhere else.

In the meanwhile, I ventured forth to the NYC fabric district in search of mask fabric. The left is the cheap $6/yard stretch mesh I'm going to use for patterning it out. The right is the nicer $9/yard mesh with a bit more body to it. If anyone else is interested, I think this is the store's online listing for it: http://www.spandexhouse.com/products.php?navId=98&navId2=102&navName=Mesh/Net (See Through)

"Applications: Cycling Apparel, Tri-Athlon, Wrestling, Pageant Wear, Cheerleading and all types of Active Wear."

Heh.

They don't look glossy to me. Even a matte surface has some sheen from the set lighting, but they don't seem to be any more reflective than the rubber on the fingers.
