Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

I personally don't believe these funds will ever make it into the Republic.

I believe the Imperial Remnant that are working within will either siphon off or just use bureaucracy to divert it all to the First Order.

Hopefully not, LOL.

For the old republic credits, I wondered “if calling the good guys” was going to be the twist. Like the kids thought the owl lady was going to call in Republic forces again, but she actually calls in her other friends. The kids cheer as the pirates get shot down in the clouds above the planet, and you don’t see the fighters, but the streaks of laser bolts aren’t in x-wing configuration or the right color. The kids cheer their saviors and then one says, “wait, those aren’t the x-wings!?” Suddenly the roar of a TIE cuts though the fog and the viewer realizes what’s going on. The imperials mop up the bandits and land stormtroopers in barely operable gear. They make quick work of the pirates and start detaining citizens. Several gunships fly over and drop jet troopers into the vault. Quickly, the camera pulls back as a destroyer stops over the city. The kids have a close up, “what have we done?” And cut to black.

I think it would have been a fantastic twist, honestly. Then those credits would have funded the FO ship building, etc.

Yeah. No matter how "happy" they made the ending. It was still a tragedy for At-Attin. This show was about the incident that result in their eventual exploitation or destruction.

It was about their point of no return. And the filmmakers could have taken advantage of that fact and leaned into that. They decided to end on a happy note... but the planet can never regain what was lost.

Although I agree, I don't know that At Attin was all that idyllic in the first place. I got the impression that they're quite stalled out and stale as a culture, with no sense of responsibility due to droid rule.

I think it might be good for the people of At Attin to join the galactic community.

I think you could probably view them as an uncontacted tribe. Their way of life works for them, but do they need to be a part of the larger world? They’re fine without it!

I think this wicked cool!!

So I’m guessing this is Jod’s first time igniting a lightsaber!

Andor brought me back to SW after years of disenchantment. I honestly had zero intentions of bothering with SC. My D+ subscription had been cancelled for over a year and would remain so until April, but something all of a sudden made me need to see this. I’m like kinda like a cat that’s laying peacefully on the back of the couch then springs up and hauls ass into the kitchen on pure impulse alone lol.

Anyway, I really enjoyed it. I’ve actually watched it 3 times through over the course of this week. It’s on now in the background. Usually there’s a list of pros and cons with anything SW lately, cons being much longer than the pros, unfortunately, but TBH I don’t really have anything bad to say about SC. Other than the annoying parents, which are incidental,
it’s a lot of fun.

To have no lightsaber training at all would mean he never trained, period, no? we see in the prequels yoda training a bunch of 5 year olds on sabers.

None of that’s makes sense. I gotta imagine he had some kind of exposure, be it training or not. Maybe he never entered the Academy and who knows what age he was found and his Master was killed, but he did a pretty decent job cutting off the head of a rampaging droid that was able to take out a group of Pirates in Port Borgo prior. Meanwhile, Wim, someone who clearly never held a lightsaber almost cut his nards off attempting to even ignite one.

What I did appreciate, however, is how Jod continually tried to show off to essentially overprove that he’s a Jedi on At Atin. That’s more in tune with what an inexperienced force sensitive would do out of insecurity.

Fair point, although he does have Force capabilities and agility, like switching off SM33 when he was rampaging in a previous episode.

Also, he's an adult, and Wim is a kid. It stands to reason he'll be at least a little bit more graceful, even without the Force.

That being said, I'm sure Jod witnessed the Jedi who found him at least practicing with a lightsaber. So it all still works for me.

Yeah, I think that’s fair. I guess if we had to take Jude’s statement as law (no pun intended lol) then Jod still would be proficient with a sword, being he’s a Pirate Captain. A lightsaber would still classify as a sword, so as long as you know where the power switch is, you’d probably be able to hold your own.

I was going to say, he had to have some exposure to do what he saw unless they're saying he just broom boy'd the his entire knowledge. Granted he's had 35-40 years to surpass broom boy level though. We have no proof of any of his backstory so there's that too. As for what he said in that interview....meh, how much practice would you really need for what he did? He didn't have a big duel or anything.

I say we just leave it at this.

““kinda liked the idea that he had zero lightsaber experience”

I have zero experience shooting a .50 Desert Eagle, but have fired a 44 Magnum before, so while there might be a bit more kick than I’m used to, im still gonna hit my target.

He’s a pirate. He best be damn savvy with a sword. Lightsabers, I imagine are balanced accordingly and that he’d do just fine wielding one. Pretty sure Derek Jetter could hit a ball pretty far with a Swiffer handle, too!

Here's what he says in the show regarding his backstory. It's not much:

"When I was your age, all I cared about was not starving. I was living in a hole in the ground, and a Jedi found me. She may have been desperate and ragged like me, but she told me I had potential, and that was...Well, she only taught me a little before they hunted her down. And they made me watch whilst they killed her."

The clues I get here is that the Jedi who found him was running from the Jedi Purge, post Order 66. The fact that they made him watch tells me it's not clones who found her, but probably Inquisitors. But interesting that they didn't sense any "potential" in him. Maybe too weak of a Force user to be recruited or killed?

He says that he was taught a little. So I figure that's possibly just enough not to hurt himself with a lightsaber. And certainly more than broom boy.

We have no proof that any of this is true, but given the context of the moment, there was no reason for him to lie. He was trying to convince the kids how awful things are in the galaxy.
