Interesting. What's the name of the lab?I can't speak for the Blade Runner coat but I can confirm that a lot of their jackets are waxed by this lab. I saw the lab, it's in Treviso, Italy.
Forgive the crappy bathroom mirror pic, but hopefully it's high-res enough to see the collar clip in. The magnet works, but due to the stiffness of the material, it's not a super secure connection. The left side of the collar has a tendency to come detached since the magnets are only so strong. The tailor and I actually considered shortening and refinishing the edge of the collar, but the concern was it became too tight across the face when the collar was worn up. Again, we fall into different coat territory--in some of the film stills, Gosling's collar, when closed, seems like it might be an inch or two longer than the front lapel, even though they seem to be flush when he wears it open.Wow! That's a great looking coat! A big shout out to your tailor too, I think he really nailed it.
Despite the expense, sourcing the material, agonizing over details, I'm sure you can sense the satisfaction in bringing to life what's essentially a unique coat. Whenever I've been asked by someone where they can purchase 'my' coat I just sigh and tell them it's a one off.
I'm really over the moon to see -for the first time- how that shifting the SR collar actually works as well as the crazy idea of sourcing shearling from a teddy woman's coat. The piping also looks very smart, and to quote The Dude, it' really ties the coat together.
Whenever you get a chance, I'd love to see some more photos of the long part of the collar tucked behind the lapel as we see on the prop display and most of the movie stills.
Anyway, congrats again!
Maybe I didn't express myself correctly... I'm really talking about folding back the long side of the collar correctly, meaning the way the coat is worn during practically all of the movie (and on this prop display as well).Forgive the crappy bathroom mirror pic, but hopefully it's high-res enough to see the collar clip in. That's exactly right. But the top magnet only really works/connects if the collar in question is totally flush with the corner of the lapel. The collar for my custom spec coat and the custom SR extends past the lapel slightly. Having said that, the bottom magnets do connect. Nevertheless, in my experience, the collar stays tucked behind the lapel quite nicely even without being held by the mangnets. It looks there should be two magnets in the long side of the collar, at the top and the bottom, which connect to two magnets in the lapel. The collar appears to always stay fully attached to the lapel and doesn't flap around.

When it's not attached at the bottom you end up with something like this:

To be clear, you're talking about this, right? FYI, it works with the longer collar, in the loosest sense. The top magnet helps clip it into place. You can see a bit of puckering occurring, and it's from the longer collar not being flush, and thus the collar pillowing out a little against the body. The magnet along the top of my collar and the body are reverse polarity, but even then, because of the collar length difference, this look really only works if one magnet is holding it in place. You can see that nice little crease along the collar, and that's a direct result of the softer shearling. The stock stuff was too stiff to pull this off.Forgive the crappy bathroom mirror pic, but hopefully it's high-res enough to see the collar clip in. And apologies for the endless posts--so had I known this (or been thinking of it), I would have had my tailor install the body magnet adjacent to the collar a solid inch higher. Mechanismo is right here, and with the longer collar you really only get this look if you have the collar magnet and body magnet able to join at the bottom, and leave the top of the collar unclipped, as it were.Looks impressive. Is there some reason you don't

*The coat's left lapel (on the long side) should be open all the way, laying flat, with the collar tucked behind it but still running along the entire length of the top of the lapel*
Despite this, hardly anyone sporting their coats on the forum (not even Soul Revolver's model, in fact) has the collar or left lapel positioned correctly in this regard. Getting this right is pretty key IMO in terms of SA.

For people who don't wear a XS size, there are plenty of YouTube vids with "How to stretch a sweater" with a few simple steps.Sharing this for anyone who might want it. Ebay currently has an aster sweater up, item number 194914349516 . It's an XS and it's in grey, but if you can fit it, and you're looking to emulate K's style, it's a nice find. Who knows, maybe you could dye it black, although the spandex portions would make me iffy on that.
In the interim, as I continue work on K's outfit, I'm considering attempting Joi's as a passion project. I found the exact boots they modified (not sure if anyone has identified those yet) but am struggling with the skirt. Also no idea what K wore as an undershirt for his sweater.
I think there are a few different options, with a Wallace logo being maybe the most basic and visually striking, given the black/orange contrast.I think it would be cool if it's a company from the 80's, like they used Atari. Maybe one the went out of business? Depending on what you're looking for I might be able to make a design.
