Interest Return of The Jedi Darth Vader Production Made Lineage Helmet "JBR"

I'm a photographer, and I've photographed numerous lineage Vader and Star Wars helmets. That dome warping isn't a lens trick.

To get a good non-distorted vader helmet portrait, you need to be at least 6 ft from the helmet, with at least a 50mm lens. An 85mm lens from at least 6-8 ft would be best.

There were just diddling around with my camera and lenses from 6-8 ft from the helmet, next to a large window.
Thanks these are great craigjohn thank you I need to up my camera game first and formost.
I’m also taking these pics way too near I shall adjust and post best I can

For my own sanity I’ve checked and the dome has not wrapped in molding and is as the original BR helmet. I popped one of the run helmets into the mold.

If my uncle was still alive I would certainly be asking him about the dome that’s for certain.
I also believe that the the Mount screws at the top of this mask requires further adjustment considerably.
As initially stated, no changes have been made bar repairs detailed.
I’ll keep fiddling till I get it………and boy do I need a new camera those pictures are fantastic.

This is shipping? There is something seriously wrong (warp/flaring) with the dome.

The painting and finishing on the helmets is beautiful. The casting... in particular of the dome (left side) with the flaring... For the price of this helmet, that dome needs correcting before it ships.

There doesn’t appear to be any signs of warping, as David mentioned it’s just the way the dome is positioned and simply needs some adjusting.

If you don't see the difference between BR No. 3 and the CFO, ROTJ hero, or even the BR prototype, I don't know what else to say. It's clearly warped/flared - whatever you want to call it - on the left side. Perhaps the dome skirt is slumping on the right as well. This is not an uncommon problem that's been seen with other casts.

The mold may be fine, but it's what happens to the dome once it's out of the mold.

One factor I think is affecting the positioning is the fact that each mask is hand casted and has a non uniform thickness and when we designed the mount, we assumed uniform thickness. This means that the screws need considerable adjustment to tweak and make right if any of that craziness makes sense.

The domes are vacuum casted so nothing has happened to them after out of the mold.

Old uncle BR must have fluffed it another thing I’ll be taking up with him the rotter

Anyway all good stuff makes the journey more fun

I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't have one of these on order. I'm just pointing out there are problems with the dome, whether overly excited buyers want to acknowledge this or not.

This has the potential to be a great collectors piece - one of the better ones released to the open public since the CFO. If you get the dome fixed, however you do it, it'll be outstanding.

Please take your time and get this right.

I think for me to fix the dome which I don’t think it dose need fixing because it would take us away from our original mission statement which was to release the most authentic unmolested Vader that our Uncle cast while he worked on Jedi.
What people are getting is what I have and my cousins have and what we’ve had in our family all these years so people are just gonna have to love it for what it is like we do.

DOGFOX2109 If you have the chance, could you please take a photo of No. 3 straight on from 6 feet away before any changes to the dome positioning, and then take a picture at the same distance after the dome mount is adjusted? That will have the final say on if the dome is “warped” or if it’s just an issue with the dome positioning. Thank you

Will do no problem but may be in tomorrow I’ve had my orders to stop playing Vader by the gaffer (wife) for tonight

I think it'd really help greatly if it also included the face mask and if they were side by side in the same shot. Just 2 helmets in the frame. I'd also back away to get the shot. :)

Fair. But when you post a photo with three domes, and they all look a bit different, it's not because the you're using three different molds.

Needs to be 6 ft away, and not with a wide angle lens, which will add distortion to the outer edges of the photo.

The original BR is back in London with my cousin we will have to make do with what I have on my phone from those pictures for now that I’ve already taken and until I get a different camera I’ll have to keep using my iPhone.

While I’m happy for discussion it dose feel like the thread has been derailed some what if people are not happy with a BR then they do not have to buy anything.

I’ll try and get those requested shots done borrow a camera etc
