Re: Free paper-prop thread no.3 - 2008

I'm in search for a hi-res pic of the 1408 postcard (Dolphin Hotel).
Can anyone help?

This is pretty big. Looks good when printed out to scale though.

Re: Free Paper Prop Thread #4 - 2009

This one is for the fans of the classic movie, "Repo Man". For those who are unfamiliar with it, in the movie, there is a running gag involving a lot of items with a "generic brand" label on there. Everything that is featured in the film, from beer, cereal, canned food to truth serum, has a simple white, light blue and dark blue label. And needless to say, I was at home visiting my parents and I was trying to think of props to use on a short film that I have to make for my class. As a result, I thought about the movie, "Repo Man", remembering the white labels and I thought, "What would happen if the characters in the short came across a DVD with this generic label that says "Hollywood Blockbuster"? How funny would that be?" So, I sat down, and under 20 minutes, created this generic label for a DVD cover.

I hope you fans of "Repo Man" love this. If anyone has any problem with the placement of the text on the spine, let me know and I'll see if I can fix it. But since I used a DVD template, everything should fit correctly.

Re: Free Paper Prop Thread #4 - 2009

I have this posted in the Watchmen page as well, but I thought it fit here as well.

I wanted to create my own little corner of Watchmen history in my office. I fell in love with the golden age heroes and the awesome photography of them. So, I set out to create my own versions of some New York Gazette front pages from the day.

I noticed that your post seemed to be overlooked... "cool, another Ironstargalacticaman prop!" but I just wanted to thank you for posting those very cool Watchmen props.

Looks good. What font did you use. I can't seem to match it.

Thanks, Indywan. The font is just Courier New and I added the text in bold. I had a bit of difficulty trying to match the actual font on the labels used in the film with this inspired image, so I tried to do it by eye (judging by the d, e, and r I've seen on one picture, the font used in the film may have been Courier). I know that the font in the film wasn't bolded, but I just went with it bolded because I felt it looked better that way to me. But I can do one that isn't bolded too, if anyone wants one.

Of course, I've recently considered on doing more labels, including some seen in the actual film itself. I may actually use the normal Courier font to see if it matches.

I've never seen the movie, but I would love to see some more of the labels.

I most definitely will come up with more of them after I get back home to my copy of the film. You should definitely watch it. You haven't been on a weird trip until you see it. You'll then be thinking of shrimp, plate or plate of shrimp. :D
