I filled propsculptor in on what exactly it is I know about this helmet to help him out. Any further shared info will be at his discretion since it is his thread.

So what information did FP give you that you could share with us about the helmet?

OK. I only asked because it seemed as though FP was told something different about it's lineage than you were told. No problemo.

Thanks Chris, and good point.

I have edited the names in my posts.

Anyone else who has posted full names please edit the last name out, thanks.

I know we all enjoy and share a common hobby. Unfortunately making these helmets and passing copies of them on can end people up in court with LFL.

Now I have read this thread and I am unsure if certain people would enjoy seeing their full names plastered all over the internet in relation to passing on these items.

Don't want to be a killjoy but possibly the people who have used these peoples names could use some discretion and at least edit out their surnames.

Nice helmet by the way propsculptor good luck with it  :) .

Cheers Chris.

For those interested in this Vader helmet, anyone have comments on what they would suggest changing?

I'm referring to little details that would make it more accurate than what's available now.

Or would you suggest leaving it, as it is?

Well, you have people signing up for the helmet as it appears now, so why bother changing it? You can never get it completely accurate anyway - that is of course only my opinion and you are free to disagree.

So, I guess the helmet is open for being copied?

It looks like a GH, only different to me is the name.Given GH does'nt seem to be making much noise, must be open season on his helmet. :(

As it's been already stated, this is Not a GH Helmet, it may have some similarities
but it is a much cleaner Helmet.

On the tops of the cheeks there's more of a curve (or arch) on the film helmet from
many pics I've seen and mine is a little more straight.

That wouldn't take much to fix.

I could also correct the location of the "Coin slots" (I think that's what they are called),
they are the curved areas under each eye.

You can see in this Pic:

I'm not a Vader helmet expert, so forgive me for asking what may be a brainless question. Is there a good reason not to fix errors you've found in order to make this helmet closer in appearance to the screen-used helmet?

If not, then why not make the fixes?

A much cleaner helmet by the use of bondo & sandpaper. And to call it a "mystery helmet" so that makes it okay for you to recast.I mean come on lets see your next magic trick.

Considering both helmets come from the same source, I'm amazed what a transformation a GH can go through when a little bondo is used.Course your not going to say straight out its a altered GH, given all the members who've taken a interest in the thread you've started in the JY.

If you sell each helmet at hypothetical sum of $600 in a raw state, that is indeed a nice tidy sum your making for yourself if 48+ people decide to go through with the purchase.

Recasting must be good for some & bad for others.

I call them the "nail marks" for lack of a better phrase. Coin slots refers to the aluminum slots on the chestboxes. But I guess those look like coin slots as well :/.

I think those would be good changes...keep in mind folks those would be very small changes and would make the faceplate look more accurate if executed correctly.

It's not a brainless question...

If people are happy with the Helmet as-is, but that's also why I posted these questions, to see if anyone wanted any changes made.

To this date, I've made No changes or modifications to this ANH helmet, what you see in the photos is exactly how I receieved the Vader Helmet, that's also why I'm asking for opinions on if RPF members think I should or should not make any changes or not.

NoHumorMan– Don’t forget the original helmet, molds, etc., do not belong to anyone except LFL. Even though GH made a run of helmets, his original and/or molds originated from Lucasfilm LTD. So it’s not his helmet as you purported.

And what has that got to do with propsculptor making copies of a helmet he bought? He is taking someone elses work and recasting it, no matter who holds the copyright over all things Star Wars. He didn't sculpt the item, he didn't cast the item he bought, he is simply going to copy it. What has that got to do with LFL or GH?

Propsculptor is taking something he didn't make himself and recasting it. It's as simple as that.

If you don't mind recasting, then by all means, support this and buy this... I don't care. Just don't start complaining the day when people having really special items will no longer share with everyone else because they will end up being ripped off by recasters. But if you support that future then go ahead and buy recasts aplenty - since no one but LFL holds the rights to the item anyways.

EDIT: But seriously, I don't wana partake in this discussion anymore. I have said what I had to say and that's that. Have fun.

Um, didn't GH say it wasn't his lid? :confused If he isn't making something of it, then why should you?

And no, I'm not a prop whore, pal. :thumbsup

I was asking myself that very same question. I could have sworn GH alluded to it not being his.
