That Yoda is awesome...It looks exactly like the one from the movies...OMG :eek

It certainly has that wry playfulness about his face that was so great in ESB... which they completely screwed up in the PT movies, imo.

Very impressive...

Hmmm...Any idea how we'd go about getting the body for the head and hands? I think a kit would be great for the right price =)

That pose is absolutely great too... really personifies Yoda. Your head... I mean "your Yoda head" fits on nicely. :thumbsup

I think it looks fantastic..... the best anyone has done yet. The real issue with sculpting an accurate Yoda head is that the head shape in the movie did change slightly as the underskin armature was manipulated to produce movements. Does anyone have any pics of the armature underneath the Yoda mask? I'd be interested in see that. Great job Cyb... :)

Thanks guys...

I'm gonna see if I'll have time to complete the top and back of the head tomorrow... Its turned into much more than I had originally intended... this project... Yes I was aiming at a really cool Yoda likeness with a more screen used edge to it but now its more lets go for the kill and cover just about every aspect of it... even down the the fine detail matching that up with the reference pictures. Its really turned into this monster of a project that I'm enjoying so very much... will miss lifting the dame cloth off him every morning to get in a couple of hours work here n there. lol

There's some shots of the armature, with Frank Oz holding it, in the Empire of Dreams documentary on the DVD box set. In the ESB part of that show. Can't play the DVDs in my computer, so I can't take screen caps of it... though... it is shown pretty clearly, iirc.

I think so far that is the nicest Yoda I have ever seen.

I cant wait to see this finished. And like someone else said, hurry up and cast it will ya? :D

Here I feel the project draws near to completion.

I've made some major changes to the cheek bones and jowls. The eyes have also had some changes done to them and I've also softened the crest at the top and modified the nose. The mouth has also been changed to bring all the other features inline with the updates and has a naturally occuring lopsided look that is evident on the movie. The wrinkles are also a lot more accurate.

This sculpt may not look totally the same as some photo comparrisions..although it is a lot closer than it was... but my opinion is that this is down to matching the perfect studio lighting.. which I can do and the optical qualities of a Movie camera. Also the other features that come into play here is the way the skins where mounted on the animatronic skull and the way the eyes were positioned, aswell. I had to decide early on whether or not to use the Exhibition example as key reference or just stick to the Movie captures and freeze framing... I decided on the later as this is the look I'm trying to achieve and i felt i couldn't trust the way the Exhibition puppet had deteriated.
