Seeing the kind of sheer talent and effort that goes into a project like this, is one of the reasons I really enjoy this forum....just amazing....that IS Yoda.... :confused :eek :thumbsup

Thanks guys...

Ob1al saw that I had already made quite a few more changes to this sculpt even since posting these images earlier today. The eyes are about right now and I did touch upon the idea of changing the way the chin stuck out... I'll try and sort this out tomorrow if I have enough time.

Cheers

It's true - seeing the work in progress in person, with the additional tweaks - I was just blown away by the thing.

Looking forward to further updates Cyb. :thumbsup

This is a truly AMAZING piece of work Cyberman.

IÂ’ve always wanted to try something like this but I never know where to get enough clay from and how much it would cost :(.

Is Yoda solid clay or is there something inside? and also, Where did you get so much clay from?

Thanks.
Jeddie

I like it the way it is just fine..............that is the best Yoda I've seen to date... I don't know that I'd change a thing. If some folks want less grooves and wrinkles than what is shown in the last few pics.....let them fill them in a tad themselves. I like them as is...

Dave :)

Done the chin mods and the upper eye mods today... The shapes looking very close now to that profile I've been using.

Yeah it is a solid lump of water based clay... great stuff to use if the weathers not to hot - otherwise it cracks and dries out quickly and constantly needs replenishing with a damp towel.

I realise some of the wrinkles need adjusting but the difference is mostly down to lighting and a softer focused image of the screen Yoda.

Cyb. :)

Just don't forget that a mould and then a casting from these "deeper wrinkles" will not be so deep when it's out of the mould. You'll lose a tad of that sharpness. Just don't over soften if you know what I mean. :)

Like I mentioned earlier... a lot of the defination is more down to optics rather than accuracy. Lighting aswell.

I can't wait to release pics of Yoda in his current state almost the whole lower face has been resculpted.

Water based clay in the UK is usually available at craft shops or Art shops (its widely supplied by all kinds of companys)... You can also order it from companys like Alec Tiranti ltd....

Looks better with every tweak.
Aren't you glad you didn't cast it up way back when. ;)

It is very commendable that you've had the patience and willing to hold off from casting, take critique, and re-visit this sculpture with photo comparisons. When capturing likeness, I don't think there is any better tool than side by side photo comparisons. It shows in your sculpt. Bravo.
Keep going..

I'm getting annoyed... I absolutely do not like it... too... too... oh heck... I LOVE IT. :eek :thumbsup

Can't believe how those changes can really make such a huge difference, even though the previous version looked dead right... amazed :lol

Cyb, it's been a great year watching your progress, first via PMs when this was still a secret project and later on in this thread...

Now I just can't wait to see it in person, and hope my jaw won't smash it when I'll be holding it in my hands.

Cheers.
