New Spider-Man 3 Costume

doesnt he have enough sense to come in outta the rain?

If I remember, wasn't it raining when he first kissed the deliciously wet-shirted Mary Jane in Spidey 1? Maybe he's hoping for a repeat?

I'm going into this movie with no searching for spoilers or preview info. Or, trying not to have any memory of what has happened in past comics, either, since they rewrite history all the time in the films (which, so far, for Spiderman hasn't been anything stupid like Superman throwing that jello forcefield off his chest at Zod, etc...) So, Spidey's got a black suit in the poster. Cool. :)

Costume looks great. I hated movie 1, more or less enjoyed movie 2, but the posters have always been so campy. I say bring on the noir. and the black costume from the comic is the shiznit. I just wish he could have the massive white spider logo, even in gray or somethin.

I'm with you on that one. I was really into the black costume and the whole symbiote story for quite a long time. I'm looking forward to seeing the back costume on the big screen. Even though I don't expect it to be exactly like the comic I hope it does it justice.

The Sony Spider-man movie site states - under the photo - that it is not a black and white picture. That's a color picture.

hope thats just a sideball effect as personally just blacking the spiderman suit is well un original i thought sam wanted to follow the comics to the letter this isnt

I posted this in the Venom costume thread at the off topic forum, too:

On the Sony site, it actually says that this is NOT a black and white image, but it IS in fact Spidey wearing a black suit. Sorry guys.

They do a LOT of work on these photographs. That's why they look so artificial, like a painting or a 3D rendering. I think they try and take advantage of Spidey's reflective lenses, too... and here I think they may have given us a hint of the Green Goblin- or as I suspect, the Hobgoblin. I think Harry may change it up a bit, since we saw Spidey vs GG two movies ago, and a lot of people were upset with the GG suit design. They won't want any power rangers comparisons this time around. Still, wouldn't you say this section of the reflection is reminiscent of the GG helmet? Maybe I'm stretching things here, but...

I'm going to assume, because of the title, this is about the suit, not the film.

Gotta say, it looks like the regular suit to me, just lit a crtain way, and heavily tweaked in photoshop so it has a "dark blue" look to it. Moody as hell.

If this is really supposed to be the "black" suit, well, I think it sucks. is his webbing going to be mettalic silver?

Njc-----------------

I haev a feeling that somewhere in the movie, Venom is posing as Spidey in an all black costume and fooling the press and general public... Which might explain this picture.

People are saying Raimi's not following the comics. We really can't see his chest clearly so there's nothign to talk about there. Both the red and blue areas on the costume are black, just like in the comics. You have to remember that this is LIVE action movie making. If you make the costume solid black, it would look terrible on teh screen. They had to keep the brick pattern and the raised webbing becuase that's what is costume is in the movies and to give something for the camera to pick up on. Were you guys seriously expecting Peter Parker to wearing a plain black spandex bodysuit with a giant spider on his chest? Just imagine how ridiculous that would look. He'd be a ballerina. Remember, things don't always translate well from print to screen. You have to change it to make it look good. From what we see in print, the design has always been his original suit jsut colored black. So for those saying this is lazy, what do you say about those in the comics? It's not like he's supposed to look completely different like Venom, he's Spider-man but in black.

Nice pick-up on the lens Westies 14. Sure does look like something's there.

For the sake of discussion...

The first one is the original pic from the Sony site. The second is the first picture which I then processed to grayscale and then added a soft light layer of the teal in the corner applied over the entire picture at 90% opacity...

The color is a little but off but it really looks like a grayscale picture with a color film layer applied. Technically, that's still not black & white...
