i can't seem to get a good picture of it in TFA. unfortunately i am behind on technology. i do have a iPhone though! and macbook pro. i just recently got a flat screen tv, and my girlfriend got me a bluray player for the release of TFA on bluray ( i keep saying dvd) but with this bluray player if i pause it, a damn screen comes up in the bottom left corner showing the location of where we are at time wise on the disc... and it covers a LARGE portion of the screen.
there looks like there is a great picture when chewie removes the grate, and you can see it in finns hand or on finns jacket, but my damn screen is covering it...
the reason i posted I'm not up to date with technology is because even if my macbook had some kind of cd rom input i wouldn't know which tools to use to extract the footage anyway
Hey, these aren't the cleanest screen captures, but I just took screen shots on my iPhone while playing TFA on YouTube. They look very similar to the ESB versions. Just wanted to put them here to help advance discussion until someone else with capability can provide higher quality images....

Yeh nice catch halliwax! I'd never noticed the scene where the tank is IN the mask.

The one on han looks to have the TFA design too. So I'm gonna guess that the TFA ones were based on Hans alone.
But in the other scene I captured the o2 tank on Leia seems to be more circular for that scene only.

I'm still going with the top of a Sparklets soda syphon and this pic supports that.
The tube extenxting out from the syphon was likely cut and the fitting for the tube was pieced over. I don't think it would've been a terribly difficult thing to create.
I think I might agree with you that it is a soda syphon...

I'm leaning towards the Sparklets bottle also.
The flip-up part and threaded nipple of the Sparklets looks removed and replaced with the red dial knob.

ESB was on tv last night so i watched it while trying to go to bed. with the cave scene i noticed when the worm starts moving around and Han leia and chewie are stumbling all over the place. han's falls off his jacket and dangles by the hose
i think of the tank was metal that the hose wouldn't flex like it does on screen.. it looks light weight on screen... i'm now leaning towards it wing cast and not metal, possibly that soda machine

Idk if any one is still looking for the part but here an old vintage military oxygen mask conector, it would attach/ screw into a small little tank or lager built into the aircraft tank and have a clip on it.
