Kevin's scatter build thread

Oh, and Happy Halloween my friends. Stay out of your kids candy lol. Mine just cracked me with his lightsaber

very nice, realistically how many hours do you think you have into this helmet?
Thank you Danny. It's hard to say because I have been doing the interior lining as well as the interior finish extras at the same time. I would guess at least 20 hours so far. It's a labor of love so I don't mind this at all. It still needs alot more work but totally worth every second.

thats why i ask, i was wondering how much extra time it takes to do the interior as well. do you think you could tackle this on a weekend start to finish?

of course if you had all the parts in front of you

I would think so. The ears took the longest. If you do alot of research and study before you jump in (like I know you do) I believe it can be achieved. Especially if you go decals. There are a few great tutorials I can point you to if you are interested. The best part about a bucket build is the fact that you can keep going long after you build the actual helmet itself. Meaning you can add liners, electronic components such as mics or ear listening devices, padding, you name it.

i ask because i ended up getting a black series helmet. but i can barely fit my head in it. it really pinches my nose, it doesnt help i broke my nose in 6th grade and any kind of eyeglasses sit crooked on my face. same with the helmet, that nose piece really hurts me. i know many guys have cut the helmet up inside to make room but i dont want to do that from a collectors stand point. i was thinking after seeing your build of tackling this myself and then throwing the black series bucket back in the box and into the closet and display the one i made

after seeing how detailed your build thread is i kinda feel comfortable doing this. cant do it anytime soon but maybe after christmas start a trooper bucket. i always appreciate how much detail you mention

thanks danny, I really appreciate that. As mentioned earlier I wasn't going to have my build log for this bucket here, but on whitearmor instead because that's the specific site for anything stormtrooper however like rutty said, this is our home and it would be just another bucket there anyway.

I have the BS Kylo and I was thinking of a mod but decided to leave it be and mod the target instead. I may ask Santa for thr trooper BS as well.

This bucket is really a good build at a reasonable cost. I can send you the email info to get on the list. Some are cheaper on ebay however, I have heard alot of negative feedback from troopers who actually bought those. I believe the majority were recast and thin material. You should be able to sit on this (almost, I wouldn't ) if it's built right.

These builds are also one size fits all because you make it fit your head. It's a complete kit without pads or decals. It comes with everything you need otherwise.

My Nicksdad hero arrived today. This thing is awsome. I have plans for the inside faux electronics that go inside the control box. The real copper has tarnished a little which is completely natural as copper will do this. My plan is to clean it off and leave it outside 1 night at a time and once it changes to the desired color I will clear coat it so it stays that way.

No wips yet but here is the saber.

Also, if anyone needs some copper foil send me a pm. No charge but please pay shipping.

damn... that is sexy
I took the wife and boy out to a restaurant and tried to hit the local radio shack after but they were closed. I will go back tomorrow and I have an idea for the inside circuit board. Mainly lks and soldering greebies, but it could look cool.

you still have radio shacks?! i loved them, there is none around in my area anymore.. all went bankrupt :( there is some great reference photos of the inside greeblies

Yes we still have radio shacks here. They are actually going back to their roots and pushing DIY electronics and kits as well as their parts bins like the good old days. Seeing how some areas don't have radio shacks anymore, I will see what's available and share with those that can't find what they are looking for

the one up the top of my street was remodeled roughly... 10 months before it closed and they had all those large drawers full of switches and diodes, capacitors all that fun stuff. i had to rewire my the man down the streets old farmall tractor, i converted it to a 12v system and needed a diode to keep the battery from being drained. sure enough they had the exact diode i needed right there, no waiting walk in a purchase... i sure do miss that store. our sears hardware closed in april... my town is hurting

Yeah, I'm originally from a small town in Connecticut and remember loosing stores. For some reason stores that fail or close down in other states are surviving here in florida. If radio shack doesn't have what I'm looking for there is another store close to my work.

Will someone please tell nicksdad I'm supposed to be working on my sandtrooper bucket! Distractions, distractions. Well, I went to radio shack and found some greebies and built my circuit board. Not 100% accurate but I believe this will do. It's completely static and serves no function.

I turned the sandtrooper bucket around so he's not watching me ignore him, lol

very nice!!

Here is a test fit of the board. Looks like it needs to sit up closer to the card.

IdK, kinda looks like the circuit board does something.
