Female Yautja build - (wip)

Did some woodworking this weekend.
I got the back end of the 2nd spear all cut, glued and roughy sanded in.

I also got the 2nd dagger and sheath all cut out. There are quite some pieces with a lot of sanding to get this one into shape.

2nd DAGGER UPDATE:
I got the dagger for the 2 suit build all glued together and rough sanded.
The sheath is lined with felt to help the dagger stay in the sheath better and protect the paint.
I brought some of the sheath details out over the handle of the dagger so when it's in the sheath it looks like a single piece.

The tribal engraving on the blade came out really nice. I did it a different way this time. Instead of just engraving the detail to depth in a single pass I did it in multiple steps this gives the engraving a more natural beveled look instead of just a straight wall down
image.jpeg image.jpeg
I have some hand sanding to do then a coat of primer to see how things look. After that hopefully just a few final touch up sandings and were ready for paint. Im thinking about making the center point on the end of the handle look like bone and points on either side look sort of like rams horns.

The pictures are deceiving. All the sanding is roughed in by dremel. There are lots of undulations and rough areas. It will look A LOT better with a good hand sanding to smooth things out and finalize the details.

2nd SPEAR UPDATE :

I got the spear tip basically complete with battle damage and weathering. I'm not sure if I'm 100 percent sold on the final paint but I will make a see how things looks when both ends are done and painted..

image.jpeg image.jpeg
I wrapped the shaft in a piece of 1/2 x 1/2 foam strip and then wrapped that tight in some textured leather. It came out really cool. I have some 1/2 rope that I'm weathering and will see how it looks wrapped in the inset area.

image.jpeg
Here is the end on the tube in black primer. This tube will be paint faux metal of some sort.

image.jpeg image.jpeg
This the the end finish sanded in black primer. The texturing and details came out very nice also. I used the same process I used on the dagger handle with the beveled edges.

image.jpeg
Here is how the whole thing breaks down. Travel size. The pieced screw together and each shaft fits into 2 inches into the connector glue solid to the other end. This makes for a very solid piece when fully assembled.

BODY ARMOR UPDATE :

This update is basically for Predtrooper. I know he is struggling a bit with this area of the armor. I hope this helps clear things up and get you out of your funk.

The cups are connected at this point but i'm sculpting in a separating point that will look natural when separate or if joined. When it comes time for molding I will separate them into a left and right side at a point I have sculpted in. This way when they are final cast in resin I can get everything fitting properly as 2 separate pieces and if they do need to be joined in the center for some reason I can join them and it will look like it was cast that way and not an after thought.

image.jpeg image.jpeg
Here is a test fit to the groin armor that I have already cast. Just want to make sure EVERYTHING fits.
image.jpeg image.jpeg

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg
Here are the two side pieces of the armor. I took some measuring, and tying things up with string but the shape should be a nice fit for my model. I'm also sculpting this with the though that there might be extra material on the cups. I'm leaving areas where I can cut or grind off material in the final casting to expose more cleavage or adjust the cup shape without it looking like to removed material. I use clay to layout the details. I used to draw them on the clay but it was hard to get a idea of the final layout. Using the clay strips I can see things better and make minor adjustments just by moving the clay around. I'm also sculpting with the top armor on so I can figure out how things are going to fit and join up if needed.

image.jpeg image.jpeg
Here is the right cup. When I'm satisfied with the layout of the details I blend one side of the clay into the surface. This way I can figure out how the different layers will lay on top or bottom of each other.

image.jpeg
I added another layer to the offsets to bring out the details more. This also give me some clay to remove and straighten things out if I need to.

I need to add some clay to the back of these pieces before I begin any detail work, so I did not shoot any pics from that view.

2nd SPEAR UPDATE:
I finally got around to completing the 1st spear. It has been almost done for quite some time and actually used at Con with my predator suit. I never actually finished the end. I was just a PVC tube cut off. I need to cap off the end of the new spear so I sculpted up a end that I could use on both. I wanted this to be made from solid black resin so I could put it on the ground when holding the spear for photos and not worry about dinging it up and chipping the paint.

Here are the completed casts all cleaned up ad ready for primer.
image.jpeg
Here are a few pics of it installed on the new spear end. The spear end has been primary colors painted and ready for some more battle damage and weathering.

DAGGERS UPDATE:

Here is a pic of both daggers and sheaths together.
image.jpeg

The 1st dagger is all primed and ready for finish sand. I carved the center piece to look like a tooth or bone and the two side piece sort of like rams horns.
image.jpeg
The 2nd dagger is all rough sanded and ready for a shot of primer to see exactly what it looks like.
image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg
I did some extra design work on this to make the features stand out a bit more. I brought the curved angled pieces out more and removed the centers on some so they are separated more.

The 1st dagger will have a chord wrapped handle just like my original dagger but on the 2nd I carved out a different wrap pattern in the wood and will paint if like leather.

Each time I make one of these I learn quite a bit and try to improve on the previous one..

ARMOR UPDATE:
Just a quick update on the chest armor. My forms were off quite a bit on the back. I had to add quite some clay to make them come out right. They look pretty good now and I got the details mostly laid out.

Your skills are really incredible !! Love the design of all your stuff. I can't wait to see the all suit built and finished.

Thanks for the kind words. My two daughters can't wait either. I still have to decide on a color scheme for the 2nd suit that sets it apart from the 1st. I'm hoping that when I have them both all done and cast in base black it will come to me !
