Female Yautja build - (wip)

I have been thinking of a way to work up the straps for the dagger and thigh armor. I've been trying to figure out a way to hide the strap and buckle. I was playing around with making a latex cover for the strap and buckle. I cast up a sample and painted it. I was surprised the I could cast it flat and it would not wrinkle or buckle when flexed around a curve. Here is the test piece.

From here I had decided to cast up a complete strap for the dagger.

And here is the plaster mold.

Ok here is a WHAT NOT TO DO !
DO NOT USE A FAN TO DRY YOUR LATEX WITH OUT CLEANING IT !
I had a great idea. I'll bring over my other shop fan from the floor near my desk. This will double the air flow and dry my latex faster. I DID NOT CLEAN IT and when I put it down it blew all the DEAD BUGS that were stuck to the fan into my latex. Luckily this is the 3rd coat and the back side. I just will not tell my daughter that she is wearing dead bugs.

That looks great, thats why im considering latex for the but and groin armour for flexibility
I talked to a few people about a latex cast of these since I already have these cast in resin. Everybody agreed these should be cast in resin not latex. After all, if this armor was real it would be hard. There is quite a bit of flex in the 325 resin and I can put some heat to it and form it to the body.

I'm using latex for the straps only. I will post my thoughts on the dagger strap once it's all molded up and I try it out. I still need to figure out a way to fasten the ends.

Im just think about some practicalitys like sitting down I know how tiring it can be in costume all day

I was a bigger fan of latex over resin do to comfort and less breaking. I was the first one to have a foam bio helmet from biohunter, never had to worry about dropping it or it falling off my mask.

As far as latex armor. I'm working on cleaning up the dagger strap made from latex and it's not easy. I spent quite some time to make the mold as perfect as I could so I would not have to do much to the strap but it still needs some work. The resin parts are very easy to clean up an fix. I would not like to have to clean up a full latex armor piece especially on the edges. I will have the final results on the dagger strap as soon as it's all painted.

Nope just the regular old Plasticine. I have a lot in brown and gray. I will hopefully be heading from my material supplier to pick up some more 325 resin and I will see how much the monster clay is there.
