Female Yautja build - (wip)

Just a quick update

DAGGERS:

I started the finish sand on both daggers. They look a lot better in the black primer. A couple more priming / sandings and these will be ready for some colors.

BODY ARMOR:
All the forms are set on the body armor and I started playing around with textures.

Hey thanks dude. There are some amazing artists here. I can only hope to come close to their accomplishments. It's ALWAYS a learning experience. I learn best by trial and error , you see my successes - you should see my "error pile"

That's a great and hysterical idea SPGFX! We NEED a "error pile" thread. One were we can all post our oopsies. I definitely have had some doozies. Perhaps I can dig up some pictures and start one. Everyone can post and write about their mistake along with a picture........or if the picture speaks for itself, just type.... OOPS.

Should make for a good read.:D

Oh..... and just to let you know...... I'm going to come to your house and steal.... err, I mean "borrow indefinitely" all your pretty weaponry. I'll give them a good home....... promise.

Have them all painted and polished by Sunday. I'll be over for tea and then take them all when I leave. Don't bother to wrap them up, unless you have the time. Thanks a bunch. ;):p

Every mistake affects me in some way I would get extremely upset at my failure to produce something amazing. I WOULD SPEND HOURS DOUBTING MY ABILITY. And what doesn't help is having an un supportive father constantly saying that I am not good at what I am doing and I should quit. However, after a few motivational videos and listening to my teacher who has taught me almost everything I know about casting. After that I get up and try again. He is a good friend and one of the few that saw potential in me.:cry::cry:

I see this thread has not been created yet ... I might as well get to it LOL

It's been awhile since I have done a update. While I have some side projects going I did get quite some work done on this 2 suit build.

DAGGERS:
The daggers are complete and printed with the base coat of gloss black.

The leg straps are all cast and cleaned up.

BODY ARMOR:
I have one side of the body armor sculpt all compete and ready for molding. I'm happy with the texturing in the sculpt and looking forward to seeing how the leather and brushed metal textures look when cast and painted.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg
DREAD BEADS:
I cast up a new set of dread beads for the 2nd mask. I sculpted a few cool designs that I'm excited to see the final cast..
image.jpeg image.jpeg

SPEAR:
The spear fabrication is all complete and I have the base colors on ready for some battle damage and weathering.
image.jpeg image.jpeg
I'm thinking about doing the 2nd suit in the Big Red colors. This will make it very different from the 1st and really stand out. I painted the bio and blade gauntlet in gloss red. I will add the black and detail colors and see how things look.

MASK:

The mask for Big Red I wanted to do something a bit different. The painted this face tattoo on the mask that would continue on my daughters face to blend things together and give a cool look with the bio removed. I also played around a bit with the dread color. The total effect work really good together.

LEGS AND FEET.
The leg armor was going to be cast from latex so they could be one piece , flexible and easy to put on and take off. I started out with plaster cast of both legs. I left a seam in the back an removed the casts with the plaster bandages still flexible. a few strips to close this before everything set up and I have some nice armatures to sculpt on.
IMG_2114.JPG IMG_2117.JPG

Here are the sculpts for the legs

IMG_2385.JPG IMG_2386.JPG
I made the mold wall out of playing card trying to follow the contours to make the mold seam easier to deal with.
IMG_2336.JPG IMG_2338.JPG
I do not have any pics of the leg molds but I did make the mistake of making the first one to thin. I was trying to make the mold light so slush casting would be easier work. Making the mold thin caused it to crack in areas when trying to separate it from the clay and the aggressive features. I made the next mold a lot thicker and had no problem separating the two sections.

Here are some pics of the raw cast with the seams cleaned up and with the intiial coat of paint. I use Monster makers mask paint - red for the base coat. This stuff sticks really good. I got some on my leg while painting and it was no there for days before wearing off.
IMG_2489.JPG IMG_2522.JPG

The paint work was completed using createx wicked air brush colors mix with Monster Makers adhesion promoter, followed with a 2 final coats of Monster makers Perma wet coating.

FEET.

I thought about sculpting predator feet but time did not allow this and I was having trouble with the height. I want my female predators to stand out and ABOVE. My daughter had a pair of heelless shoes that we used with a previous costume. She stood and impressive 6' 5" in these and all I had to do was sculpt and mold some cool looking toe covers. These shoes looked really good with the rest of the build and got quite a few positive comments

MORPH SUITS :

Comfort and wearabilty were a primary concern when build these suits. A latex sweat suit would not work. I went the painted morph suit route. Here are the paint up photos. They looked really good on with and without the armor.

SHEILA FINAL PAINT WORK.
Left, right, back and neck armor pieces separated
IMG_2652.JPG IMG_2653.JPGIMG_2668.JPGIMG_2663.JPG
Here is the complete top armor assembly. The left right shoulder pieces bolt onto rubber flex tabs so the flex up allowing full arm movement,
The front neck piece mounts with magnets for quick removal.

IMG_2674.JPGIMG_2677.JPG
The rest of the body armor is made up of 4 pieces that bolt together with custom sculpted nuts. My initial though was to use Velcro attachment but I was concerned about a failure because I had trouble finding a adhesive that would bond the Velcro to the resin piece to my satisfaction. With mechanical fasteners there is a lot less of a chance
