Currency of the 'Verse...

I am really wondering what the hell that face thing is...

Looks like a Mayan pot or something...

For what must have been a rush job, the series bills look very nice.

You can see the bill below the top has the 'face' thing on it, too.

I wonder if we all pooled some money together if we could buy some scans of the bills from the owner?

I've looked over the photos myself and think it'd be pretty hard to reproduce these from scratch, there are too many details that can't be seen in the photos. Plus the other side of them is different and there have been no photos of the other side. I'd be willing to chip in a couple bucks to get scans, assuming the owner wouldn't just allow scans for free that is.

Also I think the idea they are printed on acetate or anything else clear can be laid to rest. The top ones I think we could all agree are paper, the ones underneath look like they're probably vellum since they are sort of semi-transparent.

agreed - I would be in to help out

I'd also offer to do an at cost print run of the bills on vellum (assuming I can find some for a reasonable cost) if we can get a good scan of them. Or perhaps a run with profits going to a charity chosen by the owner of the bills, seeing as though the event in the UK was a chairity event.

Does anyone here have a way to contact him?

I made some wallets for mine... One is for me, the other is for a friend of mine.

Guys the book(s) coming out in the summer will have full size colour scans of the money.

...A stipulation made by the owner of the props.

Very cool :thumbsup

Seems you have at least some contact with him--if you would, please let him know that a whole bunch of geeks appreciate and thank him for his generousity :)

Oh... tankks :$

I'm working on some of the currency in the Firefly Viaual Guide that just came out.

I'm rebuilding them from scratch so they can be printed out at high resolution (500 DPI), so I've scanned in the origanl source bills and am rebuilding all of the additional graphics.

Here's the first (original):

and the reproduction:

...and here's the second (original):

And the reproduction (this one is a little tougher due to all the arbitary color changes the designer added in - this example is one-half of the repro bill, and only about 75% done).

Finished bills on two types of vellum. The one in the foreground is on a type with bits of metal in it, as described in the Visual Guide.
