Hi there,
I finished the flat toggle bars today.
Like I said yesterday, I first machined a long part with the correct profile that I was then going to cut into pieces and cleanup.
So, I cut them up, and in the end I still had 14mm of part left that I couldn't put in the saw vice anymore, so I got creative and used double sided tape and an aluminium bar for support, and I managed to get 3 more pieces out of the main part
yay!
double sided tape is magical, it's very strong, I use it for a lot of stuff, for guitar making as well. the aluminium bar in the back is helping reducing the pressure on the tape, but still, imagine the force of the saw blade at 70mps on the aluminium... anyways, I'm geeking out, but I love double sided tape ahah
so here they are all raw cut:
and here they are after cleaning them up on the mill with the fly cutter
this is a quick mockup but the parts need a bit of adjusting still and the center cilynder is the prototype, not the production part yet. But that is starting to give a good idea and is really nice i think
that's all the parts done for the run so far. Very intricate little parts!
cheers all!
