I know right! The dome definitely looked less weird and squat when the skirt was extended!

Well, my modified dome is ready for primer. These pictures aren't the best but this is the extended dome 'skirt'. I've added about 3/4" all around which now makes the whole thing look massively better.

At the front I've lowered and smoothed out the strangley arched 'eyebrows' and added a widow's peak. The edge of the dome has now been thickened to around 1/4".

This is a rough shot of the side view. Very happy with how it now looks. Next job, primer and paint.

Been working on my dome 'skirt' extension. The first stage, adding the extra plastic, is done. Got lots of filling, smoothing, sanding, shaping etc. to do now.

Thanks fellas! I managed to spray some primer on the modified bits today to check if I need to do any more filling/sanding. Thankfully there's only a couple of very minor blemishes so I should get that sorted in no time, then on to paint.

Nice. The two-tone paint scheme makes a huge difference, but the masking up is soooooo tedious!

That is the very reason why I won't paint another Vader helmet ever again .

Not much, although I have now fully primed and wet-sanded the dome ready for painting and sprayed the inside matt black.

Trouble is, because I can't paint this indoors, I'm now at the mercy of the British weather...and rain is forecast for the next few days so this may take a while!!!
