Bill Murray Signs On For Two More Ghostbusters

He was on Stern before that news, and he could have signed by then and not told anyone about it. I am betting he did sign or will soon, and just because he claims he has not read the script does not mean it is true. So I guess we will have to just wait and see.

Sounds like wishful thinking. He's stated in more than one interview he has no interest in being in a "hand the torch" movie that showcases how old he is. He also said if there was a good story in place he would be getting calls from certain people - and the only people he's heard from are those who would do anything to say later "I kept the franchise going" - or that they "saved it". Murray has always been a difficult nut to crack when it comes to committing to a project - he doesn't even have a agent - his lawyer sends stuff his way, or he gets it from friends.

"Before that news?" The news which I posted is what he said on Stern, to Stern. He really didn't sound that interested. What reason is there to doubt the guy? It's not as though there's a conflicting report from anyone who would know some inside information. This was straight from the horse's mouth.

How do you know? No one knows for sure. There is no reason to take down the thread as it was news reported and you can't verify that it is true or false.

If this was really LEGITIMATE NEWS, it would be headlining all the major entertainment websites. And in your own words, "if no one know for sure" then you're acknowledging the title of the thread isn't accurate.

Again, I'm not a hater, I WANT this to be true. But it's NOT. So why is this thread allowed to go on?

Guys.

He's busy making appearances in movies by Jim Jarmusch. You really think he's gonna be spending a ton of time on an 80s franchise that's been reheated in the Hollywood microwave?

I mean, yeah, he shows up in other more mainstream stuff here and there, maybe as a goof, but I just don't think this kind of project really interests him these days. I'm sure there are people who want him to sign to "Groundhog Day 2: Punxsutawney Boogaloo," but I don't see that happening either.

You know what I've realized I'd love to see him in? A serious, dramatic role as a truly evil makes-you-hate-him villain. Not just a comedic antagonist, but someone you're really rooting for to get beaten by the protagonist. I think he could knock a role like that out of the park.

Didn't he just do a film like that?

I looked up the titles on his IMDB page, but didn't see anything that immediately jumped out at me as having done that. Maybe I'm misremembering?

Alright,

If this has been mentioned, then fine, but this is not the face or demeanor of a guy who hates his past, but who is beginning to make peace with his age and have some fun.

And....he even wore the proton pack. It could be all a tease, but he doesn't need GB to be cool or respected. He might just be enjoying it.

That's fine and all. I mean, maybe he is genuinely getting cool with the adulation for a movie he did almost thirty years ago, but I still don't think he's that interested in making a new one.

Man, if I ran Columbia (or whoever own Groundhog Day now), I'd do a print campaign for Groundhog Day 2 and get Bill and Andie to do morning talk shows about it and then just release the 1993 movie and see if anyone got the joke.

:lolNow that is a winning idea!

One... BUT, if you do a search, there are several. I say "Ghostbusters 3" should have it's own sub-forum here just as paper props does in the main forum.

He must be in need of money . Why can they not leave good enough alone. Didn't they learn from Lucas and the last three SW trash movies.

Murray is a moron. I would gladly pay to see fat, old men chasing ghosts.

I highly doubt that he is a moron. I'm sure he has a very valid reason/reasons for balking at any and all scripts that have been sent his way so far. Who knows, maybe Ghostbusters is special to him, or means something more than just a film. Maybe, just maybe he does not want to nuke the fridge like another franchise did.
