Alien / Nostromo Uniforms

So a seamstress friend is helping me make a pair of Welan-Yutani trousers in Brett blue (yes I know it's "sea foam" but I'm going on what we see on screen). I hand dyed two pais of white cotton trousers to make enough material. Anyway, cut to last week when an off-white Magnoli Bros' blouse dropped into my lap! I really can't see risking changing the color so I'm going two-tone. So I'll just enjoy this Aspen beer while I wait for my trousers...

got some good photos done at Dallas Comic Con last weekend.

What are folks doing for pens on the front of the shirt? Do I need to cut the shirt or the pocket to put the bottom of the pen in?

Piecing together a Brett costume and decided to start with the hat, i picked up a couple of cheap Nostromo patches from eBay to practice distressing techniques and a cheap navy blue snap-back cap... this is the first time i've tried anything like this so it's been a case of trial and error, overall i'm happy with the progress i've made so far so i thought i would post a few pictures... any feedback is appreciated!

So far, so good. Don't forget, the scrambled eggs on top of the visor should be for an officer. Good luck with your project:)

I've finished by "Brett / Alien" cap...

I distressed the hat a little more after applying the Nostromo patch and added some more light staining to it... before adding the gold metallic thread scrambled eggs i applied them to a square piece of black felt which cost around .75c a sheet... and then once the patch glue dried cut around them carefully to give them a slightly more screen accurate look before applying them with fabric glue... the scrambled eggs aren't perfectly symmetrical, however i think it gives the cap more character and i think the slight imperfections are in tone with the character...

As i've said this is the first time i've ever attempted anything like this and overall i'm quite happy with how it's turned out... i'm going to be making a second one as a gift for someone whose a big fan of the franchise... and again, any feedback is appreciated!

Looking great! The black felt is a small detail a lot of folks miss that really adds to the look. As you noted is cheap too!

retrogarde--any chance of a fellow Brett fan, getting your seamstress friend to make another?? btw sea-foam is Ash's uniforms; Brett's IS light blue, as I'll show in these pics:BrettCandidCrop2.jpgNostromoBrettJacket&ShirtPic2.jpg

Hey man! Tell you what, let's see how my pair turns out and then we can discuss it. She's doing this in her spare time so it's not exactly on a clear timeline (I gave her the trousers and measurements before Halloween last year...), but I'm not one to complain about projects dragging on (cf. my Brett shirt project!).

As soon as I have the finished trousers I'll post photos and let you know! Thanks for this pictures by the way, it really does look like blue.

I completely understand..I am willing to pay. A lot ;-) my local area tailors= suck.....none were agreeable to even charge me an arm and a leg to take on the project; they are only interested in high school prom and ubermensch Galas--tuxedos, couture dresses etc. etc. etc.... it's cool, man. I have waited since 1979--I can wait a while longer to complete my Brett costume :) LOL

I've been trying to find information and reference material for the "gold wings" patch worn on Brett's jacket but haven't been having much luck... is anyone able to point me in the right direction or know of where i could find one?...

I recall it being discussed further back in this thread. Someone found a very close match.

Yes , I did as did others--it is Bullion thread embroidered Canadian Army Para Regiment 1970s or earlier basic jump wings...inverted with a Weylan-Yutani Engineering pin in the middle. You can find some infrequently on Ebay or such.

Hey all. This thread is fantastic! I'm just about to start on a Dallas outfit. I have an MK3 jacket on the way, and I found sources for most of the base items based on recommendations in this thread. I haven't seen any links to patterns for the shirts and pants, unless I overlooked them. It sounds like most people are starting with the Dickies items and adding all the pockets, piping, etc. Does anyone have patterns for the pockets, etc.? Or will I need to make it up based on the pictures I have gathered?
