2012 Toronto Prop Party **JUNE 2nd, 2012**

I've never been to one of these before, but do I need to purchase a ticket in advance from somewhere? Or do I just show up and buy one on location the day of?

Yeah, like Orange_Blend said, just show up.

**Special**

Most of you already know this but I'd just like to mention this again.
I'm not holding this event to make a huge profit.
The most I'm hoping for is to recover my costs and cover the cost of a few pizzas.
I feel the $15 ticket price is totally reasonable, considering there is no absolute way for me to confirm exactly how many people will be attending.
If there is a surplus(profit) at the end of the event, it will just go into the fund for next year's party to make it even better.

I appreciate everyone's efforts and understanding.

What's the difference between General Admission and Guest? (other than the guest needs to accompany the GenAdmin)? Is it more of a Buy one, the rest in cheap?

Yeah, the idea is that everyone attending who is an RPF member pays for a regular ticket of $15. If you bring a friend (guest)(assumed to be not an RPF member), the guest would pay $5 only(but would be in your company). So the cost for both to attend would work out to $10 each. In that example.

For the sake of terminology,
'Guest' = not a member of the RPF, but must be part of your group.
Guests do not have to arrive with you, but they must mention your username when they arrive.

Another example:

1 RPF member attending with 3 guests = $15 + 3 x $5 = $30 total.
Those 4 people would end up paying $7.5 per person.

Maybe I should have cited these examples much sooner and I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Also, if anyone has any issues with anything, please contact me personally.

Believe me, I wish the admission fee could be worked out to be much less than $15, but at this point I'm just looking to break even on costs and maybe have a little extra to buy some pizzas and pop.

Hey, so I'm going to be driving from London so I won't be there right at the start to set up my table. Hope that's ok. I'll be there about 2 hours in, but I'll be able to attend the rest of the event entirely. I will be selling a large selection of Harry Potteresque wands and perhaps some other cool stuff.

I will be hosting a private contest for all of you creative Harry Potter fans. Be sure to check out my table once I get there!

**UPDATE**

Reminder - NAME TAGS

I have sent msgs to some members whose FIRST names I still have not received in order to have you made custom name tags. Some of you have given me your FULL names, but I think we're just going with FIRST names only, just so you know

Orange_Blend has generously agreed to make up these tags BUT, we need to lock everything ASAP in order to be properly prepared for all RPF members attending. So please let me or Orange_Blend know your first names.
You can post them publicly on this thread or PM myself or O_B asap.

***************

I have received tremendous support from all of you towards this event which is greatly appreciated.

This will be the 2nd year of this event and I only expect it to grow every year. We have already ensured that this year's party will be much more organized and will have much more to showcase over last year's. Last year's was the 'great experiment' and it I think it worked out beautifully even with spaces being doled out on the fly, based on who showed up and how early they arrived.

The floorplan that Dr_Slurpee prepared has become a crucial tool this year to ensure that all members who came forward early on, will have a space 'reserved' for them. Let's face it, those who attended last year agree the room is not the greatest, but we will definitely be able to work with the space much more efficiently than we did last year.

Many people(including myself) had their doubts last year that an event like this in Toronto would be very difficult to organize and predict, but I think we beat those odds since everyone enjoyed themselves last year.

Through the RPF forum, this event was made possible because of the large online community that exists in the 'Greater Toronto Area' and Ontario, as many of you will be attending from much further than TO. Also, because this event was planned around all RPF members, there is also the added benefit of 'control' that we may all enjoy, meaning everyone attending will most likely be an RPF member, or will be attending with an RPF member. This will foster a more specialized group of folks and my hope is that the 'trust' factor will also be increased. No one should have any concerns at all of worrying about their stuff going 'missing' because we are all there to benefit from each other.

On that day, I'm sure I'll be running around frantically to make sure all goes smoothly, so be sure to stop me and say hello. My brother Les and his wife Ana will be handling the tickets for admission and raffles at the guest service table upon entering.

I can disclose to anyone who asks, the full costs of the event, but I don't want anyone to worry about that. Just trust that I wanted to keep ticket prices as low as possible. I apologize if some folks still don't like the $15 fee, but if I made it any lower and with no guarantees of who may attend, the event would run at a loss as it did last year, which I expected, and why I was not disappointed. This year I'm hoping just to recover my costs and I promise you that I'm not trying to turn a profit off this. The best I can hope for is to raise enough to pay for the room and a little extra for a bunch of pizzas(we may need quite a few) and some beverages. My brother will probably be helping me with that. Any extra funds will just go towards next year's party.

I don't want anyone to feel inconvenienced at all otherwise I would have failed in that respect.

I'll post a planned schedule of events in the next day or so.

My irony is that on a prop-building level, I'm probably the most inexperienced person attending:lol(don't tell anyone) but the opportunity to get such a talented group of people together under one roof, is totally worth it for me and I'm proud of that.

So I'm going to shut up now, but PLEASE....if anyone has any questions whatsoever that may relate to the event..Please let me know ASAP so we don't have any surprises that perhaps could be avoided.

Thanks for your support everyone.:)
(y)thumbsup to you all.

Andrew Portelli.
