1/8 Scale All Metal X-Wing Build

Better start working out because fling that around going pew pew is going to require Schwarzenegger strength! Love the thing And would love to paint a X that size. I bow to your skills!

Fantastic work!! Who would've thought that you could do your weight training lifting an XWing:p

AWESOME update update !!! I am wondering if a 1/6th scale Luke X-Wing pilot would fit in the cockpit ? Just an idea. GC

Body work begins. Just wanting to get everything flat and straight before I begin adding thin panels and details everywhere. Thank goodness I didn’t get rid of all my sanding boards i used on the cars.
Cannons are getting there, so many pieces to make. I got stuff everywhere. That‘s 1/2 x 1/8 aluminum flat bar stock that has been bonded to the aluminum tube.

Thinking of doing led’s in the cockpit. The dash is removable so wiring and battery placement would be simple. If I do that I will probably go ahead and put plexiglass on the canopy which might lead to a minor design change with it. Maybe. But if I leave off the plexi I could reach in the cockpit and turn it on that way, I just thought that up.
I had a wild idea of using a leftover colored nitrous purge system and install in each engine, run the lines down thru the stand and out to a bottle, with a flip purge a blue exhaust fog out the engines. It would look cool but that was if it stayed outside. If you’ve ever seen the colored purge systems work they can blow a 15 ft spray and look bad ass.

Small update, cannons are what’s on the menu for this weekend. Can’t say all metal anymore. Trying out some ideas for the end of the cannons, don’t know if I’ll keep it this way, it’s just trial and error.
i know the mount is not screen accurate but I had to hide the mounts. I can still change them a little.

I WANT ONE!!! Your work is phenomenal!! I wish I had your skill in metal working. Can't wait to see more!

Little better pic of the engines. Not screen accurate by any means, just so much little details to add. I’m searching everywhere I can trying to find small things to fill in areas to make it look real.

Your engines are looking excellent...!!...not sure about the rear section but still looks great.

I based my Hasbro Hero 1/18 scale engines on photos from the original filming models, but still it's always a best guess.....

Shame you had to paint it...looked so cool in metal....!!

Sorry for the downer post but because you workmanship is so terrific - here goes.

Your dry brushing technique looks to be amateur. Perhaps your not done.

Try to connect with some of the studio scale master builders to get advice as your model looks fantastic.
