Sealab parts on the Y! Would you agree?

Anyone know of any others?

Looks like there's more than just those pieces, too! Go to that same site with all the instruction scans and look at instruction page 3... parts 27a and/or 27b are on the Y-Wing as well.

I'm quite sure that the front of Sealab part 43 is used on the bottom of the neck. The instruction sheet image may not look so obvious, but looking at the actual part, it's the right scale, proportion and detailing.

Chances of getting a Sealab III are pretty good if you're willing to shell out in the ballpark of $311.00 like the one that sold on Ebay this weekend.

Was it someone here???

I'm focusing on obtaining one from eBay, my user name there is "chef65." I'd be open to casting pieces for people if there is interest.

I was wondering if you guys could help me out with something...

I just picked up a Modelcraft Armstrong Whitworth Whitley kit (it has the parts for the X-wing) from a hobby shop. When I took it home, I added it to my list of "haves" for star wars kitbashing kits. I noticed that all I have left to get on my list are some RARE ones that I know I need, and some other ones that I am not sure I need or not. I need your help on the following questions:

Airfix 1/24 P-51D Mustang
- I notice it has parts VERY similar to the Hurricane. Are these the parts that are thought to be used on the Y-Wing?

Bandai 1/15 Stug
- Does this kit have the same "Y-Wing parts" as the Hummel? Does it have the same parts for the X-Wing as the Hummel? Should I get both or is there one that is used on both?

OO Scale Harrow Locomotive
- What parts does this actually have for the Y-Wing?

Tamiya 1/25 British Centurion
- Does this kit have any parts for the Y-Wing besides the panel for the side?

All answers are appreciated!

Thanks

the p 51 d mustang airfix is the same as the mpc
mpc was airfix in the us fop a long time they shared the molds from wha tI am told forma source at ertl (exemployee)
so try looking for the mpc kit
the bandai is very close as well and they seem to be appearing frequently
did you get the shinden for the Y wing yet it yeids only 2 or 3 parts but still important,
I wish I could tell you more about the stug and hummel but as of this date I have not seen a stug in person

BTW I scored a sealab last week and should have it my first week in august I would be willing to cast parts as soon as I get a pressure cast system up and running but this will take some time as back surgery is scheduled for this tuesday and it will be about a month before I can get back to the shop

take care all and let me kow if I can help

The jacks are the only similar (but not identical) parts shared between the StuG and the Hummel (for X and Y purposes, anyhow). There haven't been any reports of StuG parts on the Y, but ya never know.

The Mustang yields the landing gear half used on the Y's neck. The Hurricane has different gear. To my knowledge that's the only contribution of the Mustang to the Y, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong. (The oil pan cover is 99.99999% identical to the Hurricane's, though, so you needn't buy two Hurricanes or cast that part to complete the set on the Y.)

It has been reported that parts #5 & #5A of the Harrow are on the Y, but exactly where hasn't been clarified. I don't have the kit handy at the moment to take a look at the parts, and I haven't gotten around to searching reference for those particular parts yet.

This is what was previously reported about the Centurion:

</SPAN><TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD CLASS=$row_color>Quote:<HR></TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS=$row_color>control panel part used on the side detailing of the ship, just behind the R2 unit; it is a rectangular part that has lots of little details on it. the 8 Rad chassis is in front of it.</TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE><SPAN CLASS=$row_color>

I don't have a Centurion yet so I can't elaborate on that.

The Shiden part is on the top; the Centurion part is reportedly on the side of the neck, perhaps behind the 1/9 kettenkraftrad link on the "shoulder", where the neck flares out to meet the body.

Ok
thanks for clearing that up for me guys. I was wondering if all of you caught the Bandai 1/48 Panther part... did you or no? If not I can show you.

Are you referring to the Bandai Panther-G, kit series no. 8? If so, then are you also referring to part#1? It's a transmission sort of part visible on the Chronicles top view on the right side of the neck, halfway between the wing leading edge and the droid. A couple of other kits yield the same part. I'll identify when I can get to it...

Regarding the Harrow part question. I think it's visible in the small inset photo Treadwell posted June 10 (used to identify Sealab parts). I don't have this reference shot so I can't be sure.

BTW, I've been putting together parts reference maps in an attempt to clearly identify what has and has not been identified. Would anyone find this useful?

You bet!

I'll dig out the Harrow parts and that ref pic.

Actually Dean, the part I am referring to actually shows up underneath the wing, aft of the Hurricane engine block half. In all actuality, the Panther part does not look like it is the exact piece used, however it is VERY, VERY similar. Give me a little time to put together some suitable comparison photos, and you will see that it must be that part or from another very similar kit.

As far as the parts you mention... I am not sure where you are refering to. I will take a look at the Chronicles to see. And yes, a parts map would be very useful!

Well spotted, Dean! Lookie:

Looks like the entire untrimmed part (the top one in the inset pic) is in there behind those pipes and stuff. Bottom might have a radius carved out of it to fit over the big pipe. I guess one can presume its mate is on the other side.

The ref pic was posted a couple of years ago, and I saved it with "flint" as part of the filename, so my thanks go to either flintlock or Boba Flint.
