The absolute worst monster puppet...ever!!
The Giant Claw!
For my money it would have to be the just about everything from the "classic" Christopher Lee flick "Starship Invasions" (1977). The Robot was lame, the ships had the Plan 9 Frisbee look, and the costumes were complete rubbish... err... ok some of them were good. :love
(All credit to Globo the Humanoid for the wonderful pics from his Starship Invasions tribute page.)
Like the one worn by the redhead on the left in photo #3, for example? :love...and the costumes were complete rubbish... err... ok some of them were good. :love

Sorry, there's something in that picture other than that red head?
This is a great thread.
I hate to poke fun at BSG, but come on......
Sacrilege! How dare you! Luke's lightsaber hilt is one of the most iconic props in movie history! It...umm...yeah, okay....I have come to hate the design of Luke's lightsaber in ANH and ESB. It is incredibly non-ergonomic, and it looks exactly like what it's made from - a camera flash handle, with a window wiper cut into strips. It doesn't detract from the movies for me, but if I look directly at those hilts, I get annoyed.

But seriously, that's sometimes a problem with props made from real-life items--once you know what they are, you can only see that and can no longer see it as the prop it's supposed to be. I have that problem with the device McCoy used to repair Chekov's head trauma in Star Trek IV; once I recognized that part from the AMT Klingon D7 model kit that's glued to the top of it, that's all I could see whenever I've watched that scene. :facepalm
