Weebo from "Flubber"

Here is some more updates. Getting servos installed before I start sanding and painting her up. Hope to have linkages installed tommorow/Thursday and have some video of parts moving.

Wow! She is gorgeous.

This has been great build to follow.

Could you go into detail about your painting and weathering process?

Well Weebo is Moving, Flying and Talking now! This is just a preliminary movement/audio test. Will need tuning to make her look more natural. But you can see how she moves, she moves right, leans into the turn, and her engines also move with the turn. She also tilts up and down to give the illusion as well. Also screen will be added in the next week or so..

this is coming out insanely good edsjunk!

i keep trying to hash out in my brain the best way to make it look like she's flying.
one idea would be to make the aluminum base, that makes her move, possibly out of clear acrylic sheet....but would take a lot of work unless you had access to some kind of laser cutter.
the other would involve building some kind of "magician's illusion box" using flat black velvet or something just behind her so you don't see the arm at all.

it's probably nothing you're interested in doing anyway...just me thinking out loud.
it is coming out great either way.

I actually have a laser cutter, I plan on hiding the arm once it's completed. I think that along with more natural movements would simulate flight very well.

Here are a few photos of the painting process. I started by assembling the 3D print files to the base, then using CA Glue to hold them together along with screws. I then used a filler to fill all of the seams and sanded to a smooth finish. Then I applied primer and wet sanded to 1000 grit. Then I used Yellow automotive paint that was then covered by a Satin clear coat. Once dried, I weathered using silver rub-n-buff to give the illusion the yellow paint was wearing on the edges and the metal was showing through. Also used some black here and there for weathering.

I can't believe how quickly this is coming together, especially for this level of quality and features. Great work!
