TRON 3 ?!

If it doesn't have Tron, it isn't Tron.

The "TRON: Light-Cycle Run" attraction at Walt Disney World has NO mention of the TRON character at all in the ride. He's not discussed or referenced in any way. In the queue, they constantly mention entering the Grid. (almost) No one notices that TRON isn't there... to most guests (and to Disney, I believe), "TRON" is just the name of the digital world, not the security program designed by Alan Bradley.

Since Jeff Bridges now returns as Kevin Flynn, but Bruce Boxleitner is not returning as TRON, my best guess is... Flynn digitally "teleported" himself/recompiled his digital form, when he resorbed CLU at the end of TRON: Legacy. We saw Rinzler (the mind wiped TRON character from the original film) briefly "turn back" into TRON at the end of TRON: Legacy... and then nothing happened.

My guess is that Flynn will have saved the TRON program and insert/merge it with ARES, so that ARES becomes the "new" TRON.

I mean it IS the computer world...Alan writes tron 1.0, someone else. An refine/ rewrite/ update it and you have tron 2.0. But i like your idea better. Probably too good for hollywood to hqve come up with tho

Respectfully, Tron is absolutely NOT the computer world. Tron is a security program, like a cop-type person, in the world of Encom (aka "The System".)

If they renamed the sequels The Grid: Legacy and The Grid: Ares, then people would kick off and moan that the name Tron wasn't in the title and Disney should burn or go out of business for disrespecting the original film, or some other kind of disproportionate hyperbolic rage rant.

Lst me clarify, the flick mainly takes place in the computer world. It still doesnt mean there cannot be a new tron program.i am not saying there will either, but they could.

If you wanna get realistic about it, a program from the early 80s cant even run in a system of today. Hence it would have to be rewritten.

Very true, sorry I misunderstood your point. It will be interesting to see if they try to incorporate the character at all.

If they don't have Tron in this movie after what they did to him in Legacy. Then nothing that happens in Ares will matter to me.

Both Tron and Flynn are pretty much equal characters in the original movie. Legacy either forgot, didn't understand, or didn't really care about that. I borderline hated Legacy's obvious twist with the Tron character and also Clu for that matter.

I didn't watch the new trailer. But I still hope they will resolve or at least reference Yori and Quorra as well.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Disney COULD be holding back a few surprises and bring back the characters in some form... but what I am AFRAID will happen is a Jonathan Groff type scenario from the Matrix: Resurrections.
