The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

A bit of a challenge to get a pic. Black on black and under a door. I can only really see it with a flashlight on it, and it seems that either the door plastic is thicker on one side, or the problem is with the pins- uneven or warped. It’s rubbing right at the bottom of the facing surface, but the bump under the handle isn’t the issue. I emailed Wand about it. Maybe they would just send me a new door.

Yup… there surely looks like something is askew with your door. I’m sure TWC will figure it out and make it right for you. Either an easy fix or a full Tricorder replacement.

The good thing about reporting these things is they can get with the factory and correct them in future builds.

I've left it a bit late to report or replace mine as I thought it was normal, I did ask myself once if it was normal but after that it didn't bother me or interfere with the function so ....

I haven't bothered with a password. If the unlock code is 1701, what's the point? Other than seeing the "ACCESS DENIED" screen if you put it in wrong? (On second thought, that's pretty cool...)

On this topic…

If I was a hacker, and knew that someone was a Trek fan, the first codes I would try for passwords and pins would be “1701” or some variation of “NCC1701”…don’t use them, folks.

Who exactly should the Tricorder be sent back too?

Asalaw sent his communicator directly back to TWC.

But if one buys a Tricorder through Amazon, Star Trek . com, or IGN etc. …isn’t it those vendors, or most vendors standard policy that you return it back to them (Who you initially purchased from) for whatever reason your not satisfied or it’s defective or broke in some way and you want a replacement or refund?

The expectation then is that they should send you back a replacement if they have one on hand, or refund. Or they themselves will take on the logistics of shipping, customs, etc. hassles for you, to return it back to the mfg (Wand) for the replacement ….to then get it back to you from Wand, through those vendors.

Does TWC’s policy say to send all defective or broke merchandise which includes from their other product lines, back to them directly with copies of proof of purchase…and not the vendor who sold you the item directly?

You put your own password in, Chris just set it to 1701 because it seemed appropriate. (Then you could be joking in which case I'm gonna look a banana answering  )
Strange mind that we can only put numbers in the password section and only letters in the name section, why not both? On the name section there are unused blocks as though numbers were meant to go in there.
Yeah, I know that--but 1701 still unlocks it. Every tricorder owner knows that. And it's in the manual, which is online. So again, what's the point?

A stroll through memory lane….

From the Goooog

……”Evidently, it seems that the two Wah Chang "hero" tricorders were frequently disassembled while on the Desilu soundstages and re-constructed with new parts to enhance their appearance.

And now, the hero TOS Tricorder”....

Wand definitely did some improvements….. :)
Looks like the same white glue as in the Chang Communicators. Is there a definite conclusion as to what that glue is?

Not sure but I had an issue with a communicator and it went back to them directly, Charlotte posted me a new one and got it the next day, same when I asked for a spare set of dividers.

I wasn't aware that 1701 unlocks it, I was under the impression that you had to reset the trike if you should forget your password. Didn't see that part in the manual but I was going by what Chris said on the youtube video regarding a few things so I didnt read all of it.
Yeah you're right ... what's the point lol!

From reports of others that have returned theirs, Wand sends them pre-paid labels to return the Tricorders directly back to them. One buyer reported he got his replacement BEFORE sending the original back. They have a supply at their location just for returns.

I’d contact them via. the customer support email and let them advise you on the next steps.

Also, one person on FB reported he went through Amazon for the return and they wanted him to pay a $75 shipping fee.

I suspect the person who got their replacement BEFORE sending the original back……probably sent pics and or video showing what was happening to it and Wand determined it was a no brainer and it was legitimately a bad unit…and so sent the replacement ahead.
