Yeah, right …I was just thinking model makers in general …he didn’t show up to Star Trek stuff til about mid to late 70’s ….I was going to delete his name then got distracted..before I knew it I was ……Zzzzzzzz…it was late night when I posted…my mind was jelly.

Gene floats the idea given to him, for a (Secretary’s) tool to give the Captain’s Yeoman something to do and so thereby giving birth to the Tricorder later on. Eventually it becomes widely used by other cast members for other purposes.

I’m not sure if the above two Tricorder’s pictured, and purported to be Wah himself holding them, are the two Tricorder’s listed on Wah’s receipt or both Tricorder’s are one and the same…..and Tricorder number two is not in the photos.
I could be wrong, but since there is no mention of any detailed differences in construction between the two Tricorder’s listed on the receipt…..I presume they were both constructed identically the same until received by Desilu…then the mods began to appear, like the Jewelarama and different color lights lenses in Season 1 Episode 2 …Charlie X ….

By the way, Wah is not mentioned in the book, what a shame……..also on the receipt, each Tricorder cost $275 each…which should be for a total of $550. It appears perhaps tax or some sort of fee was added to total out at $572…a difference of $22.
Or for you conspiracy theorists…..the receipt and or the Wah photos are bogus fakes

Here’s a difference between the 1st STTOS dvd release and the Enhanced dvd release…in terms of McCoy’s Medical Tricorder screen readings in Season 3 Episode 10 Plato’s Stepchildren…..looks to be a Wah Hero with the straight pull handle bar on the compartments (drawer’s).

I actually used to prefer the one-sided leather strap, but after seeing the really nice stitching and finish on my Wand strap, I think I'd go with that look if I ever decided to replace the strap. It's not 1st season hero, but it is very nice IMO.

I just ordered one myself since I want to have a variation of straps, stitched and unstitiched. Ive sent it to stackry, a US company that delivers to other countries when the sellers either won't send to UK or the shipping fee is too high, they wanted over 50 dollars for shipping!
It would be so great to get these two screens added to the TWC tricorder. They could just be added to the "prop" menu, cycling through the different options.

Yes, that was it--the display is 320 x 240, and the tiny lines on the med display screen just didn't show up very well. Plus I think the typeface might have been unreadable at that size.
Would have nice if they could have included something but c'est la vie.

That’s funny because in Plato’s Stepchildren earlier on in the episode……a closeup of McCoy’s Tricorder on the table….you’ll notice that the Tricorder has the L type pull handles on the compartments (draws)…..

Agreed, especially with the med scanner to go with it.
Tric closeup would have been a stock shot they comped a new display on. Mom: we don't need a new closeup, we have closeups at home.
