The Last of Us HBO Joel Thread

Btw guys, I think with the Timberland collab, I think Joel's new boots might be Timberlands.
I also reached out to the Boot subreddit for help lol
This is the best I can get from the trailer:

I found this article, so far all the collaborations seem to be in line with what it details.

The wrangler Instagram story seems to show a medium wash denim jacket with a last of us wrangler logo at the back being worn with a medium wash denim shirt and jeans. Considering the article makes reference to Joel Miller often wearing camo, something he has never done and judging from the trailers will never do, I think we’re getting very basic clothes with a last of us logo on them and that’s about it from Wrangler.

Which is a shame, would have liked to see Tommy’s jacket replicated, still holding out hope they do Ellie’s Seattle shirt since that’s not that hard but as far as Joel goes I have no high hopes.

The article has gotten some dates wrong but not by much (the Alice mushrooms thing got announced today not last week) so if they are using Timberland boots those won’t be available until September sadly.

It’s a cringe collab, that does nothing to fuel our SA hunger. They’re just releasing their normal stuff and slapping TLOU on it lol.

I really want to ID Bella’s denim Seattle shirt. Can someone confirm?

I really hope it’s not custom.

I hope yall don’t mind me sharing a Joel inspired piece here and singing Jameel Ur ‘s praises.

So some background, ever since watching Skyfall in theaters I was taken by the Levi’s menlo leather jacket in the movie.

It was beautiful in fit and design and the vintaged look always appeals to me but I own and wear a dark brown leather jacket a lot so I never got one original or replica.

Like probably most people in this thread I was also tempted by the flint and tinder jacket after seeing Pedro Pascal wearing it as Joel and hovered over the add to cart button several times. I always talked myself out of it though because at the end of the day it’s a tan denim jacket without v stitching and only one chest pocket. Since I have other denim jackets I enjoy wearing it was a similar situation where I couldn’t justify it with my existing wardrobe.

Then I stumbled on this image showing a worn in vs new flint tinder

(Side note why didn’t they weather the jacket on the show like this? Was a bit bummed out the season 2 jacket is paler and doesn’t look like this)

And fell in love with the patina, which caused an idea to form. I had been in contact with Jameel for a Henry backpack (which turned out wonderfully by the way) and proposed the idea to him. Essentially the Skyfall jacket in leather modeled after the patina on the flint and tinder with custom printed fleece lining and nickel hardware. After he agreed it could be done I drew up the pattern for the lining, had the fabric printed, sent it to Jameel’s workshop and then drew up this concept in photoshop.

Now less than two months since placing my order the jacket is done and it turned out better than I ever expected.

Very excited to wear this everywhere and recommend everyone go to Jameel if they ever have ideas for a custom jacket. When the time comes and more reference is available I’ll likely go to him for the season 2 parka.

Random question if I may regarding the Flint Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket, my one came with a crease line down front button area, it always folds over making it look like a blazer lapel.

Does anyone know how I might iron out that crease line?, considering the cost of the jacket and the materials it’s made of I’m worried about damaging it.

Do NOT iron the coat, you'll wreck your iron and the jacket from the wax.

Your best bet is to use a sponge to dampen that part of the jacket on the outside and inside and "train" it by folding it into the position you want and then buttoning it up when it dries. Probably need to work it a bit to help with. You don't want the jacket section to be soaked, but wet enough that when you put it in the spot you want it'll stay. When it dries it should be ok, may need a wax touch up, and I believe the material they use is done with Martexin Original Wax, so you can grab a tin online somewhere and just work it in with your fingers if needed.

Thanks for the response, got this about 2 years ago, haven’t waxed it since I got it, wear it occasionally not all the time. Im based in the UK so not sure which wax would be suitable to apply to the jacket?

For the sponge do I use warm or cold water ?, once damp can I simply fold it over completely the opposite way and let it dry like that on a flat surface ?

You can probably get Martexin Original Wax from Amazon.com and have it shipped to the UK if you want the same wax that was used when making the material. I would think Barbour or Belstaff wax would be ok to use as well. You can always check out "Wax Jackets Repaired" in the UK and see if they could even rewax it for you. From reviews/images I've seen they do great work.

I would probably just use cold water from the tap, and then just fold it over and let it dry. Could try that. Sometimes its the collar that causes the jacket to flap open like that so may need to work that too, hard to say without seeing pics.

Sorry, pictures below:

Below shows how it folders over.

Below you can sort of see the angled whiteish line crease line further down where the button holes are:

What colour are the 505s as In the name? And any tips or recommendations on how to make the denim wrangler shirt look like the lighter blue then the dark blue it comes as?

Alright everyone, got some bad news.
This shirt is pretty much non existent in the US. Bit you can definitely find it out there!!!

It’s the Fahertybrand “The Malibu” in “The Tony Plaid”

Cheers and thanks for the ID, managed to find one in my size. Seems like they changed the buttons

I wonder why they felt like going through the effort of replacing the 2 hole buttons the shirt comes with and putting more standard 4 hole buttons.

Extra curious since faherty has made shirts in this fabric with 4 hole buttons over the years apparently.

Looks like we have one more outfit to find from the coming weeks trailer, seems like an off white linen western shirt. Most of what I’ve seen doesn’t match the spacing between the body and shoulder yokes, hope some of yall have better luck.
