Temuera Morrison Sculpt (Jango/Clones) WIP

I'm definately looking forward to getting him finished.
This has been a real challenge, since this is my first portrait sculpt.
I've never taken a sculpting class, so everything has been a learning experience and lots of trial and error:wacko.

He looks slightly older and more robust than Jango, but definitely a great likeness. Don't think the stubble is too much... would just like to know how you did it, if you are willing to share your secrets! :thumbsup

No secrets, but I'm sure it's not the "accepted" way of doing this, but it makes for some cool texture.
A cheap plastic broom singed with a lighter/torch so that the tips are blunt.

Then just jab at the clay (medium density) repeatedly and it brings out low and high spots. Add tiny bits of clay here and there and repeat.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. Anyone claiming that there is only one way or their way to do things should get off their podium and accept that there are a myriad ways of doing things to get this good of a final result... :thumbsup

Wow, looks amazing. I must say there is definite talent at work there. My only comments are:

the ears looks low (not sure if it's angles and whatnot of photos)
and his sneer seems to be a little heavy.

Other than that, I think you've done an outstanding job!

Man really nice work. Very cool.

Not to get off topic or anything but, Am I the only person that was disappointed when we first saw he was not a really cool looking alien?

I don't want to be accused of thread jacking or nothing, I was just really expecting a three eyed lizard, and we got this guy.

Sorry, I really like your work anyway. It's not your fault he's just some guy.

look at the comp shot, the ears are different and also, the wrinkles look overly defined making him look alot older. well, thats what I think at least.

Thanks guys and thanks for the input steveo and punisher.
Regarding the depth of the skin detailing, I did exaggerate it a bit.
I'm not working with a sulfur-free clay, so I have to prime and clear coat my sculpts which soften details a bit.

By the way, this is a compilation of several reference pics of Temuera and mainly this one from Six Days Seven Nights for the expression/attitude:

Been waiting for this for along time. To me, it looks great. I would love to have it put on a mannequin displayed with Jango or Clone armor. Nice work Vash! :cool:thumbsup

Sorry to necro post, but I was wondering if this has been completed. I have a mannequin that I would love something like this to be attached to. Although i still wear my Gree armor from time to time I now have it displayed. His arm is capable of holding the helmet. This is trully an awesome piece!

This sculpt took a long time to do since it was one where I started learning to capture a human likeness.

This sculpt has been in my garage for a couple of years now since so many other projects have taken priority. It's basically been finished for a long time, but finally I'll be molding this sculpt.
I just sprayed primer on it this morning so here's a long overdue update:

The details are being washed out by the light, so here's an old close-up pic:
