Star Trek: Picard

We have Michael Chabon to thank for the latest episode. Hard that believe that kind of drivel could originate from the mind of such an accomplished award winning writer.

Wanna something astonishing? At the start of the episode you see apocalyptic visions that drive some of the Zhat Vash acolytes to go insane. One of the visions is presumably the face of a synthetic lifeform. If you do a search of stock images for generic cyborgs, you'll find the CGI artist's inspiration for that image.View attachment 1275459

Wow, that is arguably up for a plagerism lawsuit. Picard can then join Disco which has its own on-going lawsuit over the Tardigrade.

Who cares what these idiots do! There are still 178 episodes of TNG available to watch (some cr@p, most great). Nothing is being destroyed. As long as people keep paying for something they hate, they’ll keep making things you hate. Nobody is forced to subscribe to All Access.

I think you will find that most of the people in this thread care what these idiots are doing and as for nothing being destroyed well the potential for any decent new Trek seems to be being thrown under the bus. If you are happy with that then fine but nobody can effect change by keeping their mouths shut.

Johnny I agree but a couple of dozen people here voicing their opinion didn’t give us better Trek after JJ and Discovery. They just keep churning it out. The best way to shut this down is a good ol’ fashioned boycott and shut the dollars off. I think we are in for a long wait for a new generation of producers and writers to bring descent Star Trek back to the fans.

And like it or hate it... I don’t get disturbed by what anyone says here. We’re all fans.

It was never justified, ever.

I hope those who did give him grief take a moment to say sorry to him in some form.

It was guilt by association...

One of these “Ricks” is a man who helped to create some of the most bland, “dense”, and cringy entries into a long-running franchise’s legacy. The other one is Rick Berman.

Considering it's a stock image, we have no reason to think they didn't buy it to use. In fact that certainly seems the more likely scenario to me.

Maybe we should do an open letter on the internet thanking Rick for keeping Trek in course through all of those shows. C-“BS” might realize we hate their new stuff.

I only watched the first episode because it was free. It did not draw me into buying “all abscess” again.

On my next “final offer” of a month free to come back, I may do it and binge watch it. But I don’t think I want to give them any more of my money.

Not when Disney + has so many great shows and The Orville is moving to Hulu.

No more C-“BS” All Abscess again.

That vision looked like Ariram face from Disco then it merged into Data. Is that what we are to believe? And those apocalyptic images looked the same as the visions from Disco
Is this connected or are they too cheap to make new FX?

There is no doubt that they're going to connect the series. At least I have no doubt.

It does seem like a pretty cheap version of Star Trek.

That was an interesting episode. We've learned a little bit more about how horrific Starfleet had become. How easily their Captains and crews were manipulated. And apparently the Romulans had incredibly advanced technology thousands and thousands of years ago.

We learned that 7o9 has no issue with joining the collective again for the weakest of reasons. That control over the borg cube is apparently just left to one person with absolutely no oversight.

We learned that Romulan disruptors don't work against swords. That must be why they never use them from a distance against Elrond.

There are glimmers of Star Trek in there. I don't know if anyone caught those few notes from the Romulan theme in TOS, that they used when the Borg were being ejected into space. It was very brief and only a few notes of that music. That was neat. It's about 28 to 32 seconds into this clip. When you hear it, you'll get it. http://trekcore.com/tos/audio/balance/RomulanWarshipRomulanThemeCenturion.mp3

But most of the time, it really is like I'm just watching a show that takes place during our modern times. They dress, and talk like people now. They act like selfish ********. The only difference is they use the odd word that comes from Star Trek.

BUt again, the glimmers are there. And aside from the BS of being less Star Trek then they claim to be, and their plot holes the size of an 8 Sun star system, it's not that bad. And that's exactly what they wanted. They didn't want to do Star Trek. That's obvious. They just wanted something that anyone can watch and will forget about in 5 years. It's clearly one of those shows you don't go back to watch again.

Star Westworld Galactica Trek is getting on my last nerve.

You missed Wars, Thrones _________(insert any other franchise here)

The problem is anyone who dislikes Picard and Disco but continue to watch through CBSAA or Amazon are contributing to the problem.
Whether you're thoroughly enjoying the series or aren't enjoying it but are watching because you got this far and want to see it through, it all counts. On a spreadsheet at CBS they just see your view of each episode as a tick.
Every view is a direct ratings contribution. Views = ratings = perceived success.

If people really want to see an end to Kurtzman's stranglehold and consistent churning out of a very low level sci-fantasy show with the name, Star Trek slapped on the title credits, STOP WATCHING.
It's that simple.

Wow another entertainment thread not to read on the site.

Anyway I'm enjoying the show, enjoy Disco and pay for CBS Access entirely so they will continue to make entertaining Star trek programming. :)

I like Disco a lot. If you want a good reason to watch CBS and you don't like the trek stuff, watch Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone. It's very good.
