SHIPPING Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Ecto Goggles

I got one of these from Rhett and it's a beauty! It's not nice to have a properly sized set of goggles (my only other pair are the Matty goggles). Now Rhett's got me wanting to scratch build a set using greeblies from my collection... once I get some free time (maybe next year!). Thanks again, Rhett, for this wonderful prop and bit of GB history!

Not much going on tonight, as we’re getting into the laser shop a day early, so much squinting was done tonight as I finesse the base. I’m super nervous as my engineering skills leave much to be desired (much to the chagrin of my late Uncle, who was a literal rocket scientist). So we shall see what happens tomorrow night! New acetone-droplet-free lenses will be cut as well. Stay cool out there y’all.

Glad to see progress on these!

Any hope I might receive mine by the end of the month? I’m attending FanExpo Denver 4-7 July and would love to wear these as part of my GB ensemble.

Another night of moving forward! Lenses are all cut and very pretty. Base cutting was a draw; we got one cut to test, and it fits and stays together without glues, but we used the wrong material and it was, let’s use the word ‘yucky.’

I’ll go back tomorrow (the original planned day) and get them cut right. But I’m happy they work! I’d never created anything like this, even in my art school days!

Glad everyone is digging the display bases!

We’re taking the day off today due to the heat, and the worst of it will pass through Ohio tomorrow.

We’ll be dropping off the first packages tomorrow and/or Monday, and we hope to avoid any possible problems with the heat as these pieces travel.

We use Smooth Cast 326 to cast these, and its temperature tolerance tops out at about 120 degrees F (50 C) which is easily reachable in the back of a Post Office truck.

A batch of headtsraps is on its way, so we will be able to move the next batch of 5 out later next week. I’ll be updating with pics etc as we move along.

Thanks! And stay cool!!

We've started packing things up on the current batch. Tracking numbers have been added to the list, and I've gone back through and made sure we have everyone before we kick into high gear over the next two-three weeks to close this all out. Thanks all, there will be some packing videos up to see theses head out, as well as further updates as we continue to move along.

Well. It did arrive. Straight out of the box. Box itself is in pristine condition. I'll discuss this more later when my blood pressure comes down.

That piece is supposed to pop out for cleaning. Same with the large one. When you find a position you like for the rings, you can drill into the lenses and use the thumbscrews to set everything in place. There’s no true accurate position, so I left it to each person individually, just like weathering.

This entire transaction has left a poor taste in my mouth and wallet for dealings on the RPF, let alone this company. If I had come to this for a film, I would have absolutely sacked the prop maker. I understand this was a rush job due to the deadlines set by the PayPal dispute, but this paint job is something else. The bubbles in the castings alone should have left this piece on the quality control floor.

7 more getting cut, 5 more getting assembled headstraps here for 5, more on the way before the holiday.

work continues in earnest…

Thanks

No pics until tonight but we managed to get 2 more new pieces into paint and assembly today, so we’re churning away. Just wanted to post and update in case anyone’s doing some Friday night lurking. :)

This is my second favorite part of the process, where the goggles start to feel ‘real.’ Decals are on, inner plate and lenses get screwed in. Onto top lenses and rings tomorrow, then they’re detailing bits. After that, my favorite part: packing them and shipping them out!
