Predator's don't work well with water... remember how their cloaking failed in both P1 & P2 when in contact with water.
Would definitely be interested in seeing a period piece, but not from the Predator's POV, but from the humans... but the Predator should win... would be interesting to see the P2 elder as a young hunter!
Having it set in Vietnam could definitely work... or in any war or combat situation... definitely in the hottest years.
The less of the Predator's POV we get the cooler they appear... which means that we have to have a human POV... either on Earth or in space - though, in space it would have to be set in the future, as others has mentioned. A scenario could be - different from crashing on a planet - to have them be explorers, out to explore exciting new worlds - they are followed by another ship, but they are unaware of this. They set down on a planet where life was discovered recently to document the various lifeforms. They find no intelligent life, but several herbivores and carnivorous animals of various sorts, when the Predator begins stalking them. They have security marines with them to protect them. Nah... that scenario pretty much sucks... as the Predators like to hunt the most deadliest creatures... not scientists... forget what I said.
Humans stumbling on a Predator war could be interesting.
But a period piece definitely has my vote... and set in Japan could be killer!
