i now know the dates, when i have the reat of the info, can work out the costs.just wondered if i will get any hassle bringing my costume over to the usa?!might just bring the skin not the blades and electronics, maybe one of you guys could fit me up with a set for the con! that would b great.anyway its early days, but i hope it goes ahead.i wonder if any other uk preds r going????let me know could share the costs!!?

Its the same for me guys and gals. I reserved a room just in case it happens. If its not a Predacon then I prob wont be there. I have SDCC and Dragon Con to attend next year a squeezing in a third is gonna be hard enough. I have not bought tickets or a flight...just a room so im covered on the hard part if this goes through.

Quick heads up on Monsterpalooza . It is a very small con in size. It is located in the Burbank Marriott, so obviously that is the closest hotel.. The Marriott is directly across from the Burbank airport.. Those coming from out of country can get a shuttle from LAX to Burbank... Now.. If Predacon doesn't happen and you still plan on hitting the con, you should know it really isn't a costuming con.. Meaning besides demos from many of the make up schools, not many people dress up. Tickets are cheap.. No more then 20 bucks in the past. Saturday gets crowded.. So get there early or you could get stuck waiting to get in.. Ticket or not. For everyone visiting.. There are lots of fun things to do after the con. Universal Studios is close by.. I'm thinking you guys can all come out to Hollywood ( 10 min away) and we can hit some of the party spots I go to.. It would be great to see all of you guys.. I'll see if I can set up a sort of Lair open house visit at the shop for all those interested

That sounds really cool, I have a really good friend that works in television and film editing that could hook me up with a place to stay.

hey guys, slow your role a bit...let me get the ball rolling on details before anything is planned..... we still got a ways to go

ya bunch of half ass mountain boys
Sounds like the ball is already rolling with or without you. You can't stop us now.

Actually, yeah, I'd like to see some more details, just to make sure this is a fitting convention for a bunch of Preds. And if it doesn't happen, I just have to cancel a hotel reservation, that's all.

By the way, Southwest Airlines serves the Burbank airport from Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and northern California, so I won't have to fly on a small CRJ for one leg of the trip. They're undoubtedly cheaper than many of the big airlines, too.

Kit, forget it dude, its happening with or without you.

do not run up a phone bill calling around, save your fingers typing out emails. Because apparently this is happening without you................... lmao.

I am not sure where some people get the idea of being the BIG I AM ( should be " i am not " ) or others who think they are some sort of welcome wagon for the lair. There are channels and proceedures that need to be gone through, guests to be contacted/agents/agends/times and much much more.

jeeeeeeeeeeze.

I was joking with the "with or without you" comment. I was just amazed that so many people are making firm plans already. Besides, if there's no planning and no setup involved, then the net result would be that a bunch of us come to Burbank, suit up as Predators, and then walk around the hotel all confused and sweaty wondering where to go or even why we showed up at all. So, yes, any "Predacon" part of the Monsterpalooza convention would have to be planned out as far as programming, space, guests, and things like that. Obviously I'm not on the planning committee.

Besides, if I wanted to be a "welcome wagon" for the Lair, there are a couple things I should have done better in Atlanta last weekend, like marching the ENTIRE parade in my Predator suit along with The Hunter's Lair group, instead of collapsing from heat exhaustion. And, I should have shown up at the Marriott at the appointment time of 3 PM. *growl*

would love to say i will be there but wont happen i'm afraid.. will just have to make do with what us Irish preds do over here...which is pretty damn cool..

hope it works out for you guys.

For those of you thinking of maybe attending then hold on to your bios because this is something you are not wanting to miss. I just have gotten more information on what is so far being planned for the PREDATOR side of Monsterpalooza from the creator of Monsterpalooza himself.

As of this date we have The Stan Winston family and the school on board for the next Monsterpalooza.
They will be doing a booth at the show ,doing two presentations and contributing pieces to the museum. Matt Winston(Stans son) will be putting together two presentations. One presentation will be focusing on his fathers career and the school.Joining him on stage will be many people that have worked with Stan and will be future instructors with the school. The other presentation will focus on the original Predator film , specifically the suit and Kevin Peter Hall.We hope to get some of the cast members to participate .If this happens we will either lengthen The Predator presentation or add a third presentation. Of course other guests and presentations will be a part of the weekend as well. If all of the above falls into place we hope to do a Predator screening at the end of the day on Saturday evening. Hope all is well.

Sounds as if things are coming along smoothly so far, I think Mr.Brodsky can pull it off, the screening of predator would be an eipic way to end. Just imagine how cool it would be to watch the film that started it all with a buch of Lair members.

not on my end,
a few weeks back,i contacted arnold's rep to see if it was possible for him to attend but was given the typical hollywood response .....it's not in the books for him.
i also contact carl weathers rep to see if he would want to take part, but for a fee of 30 grand...i told them, yeah thanks maybe a cardboard standee would be cheaper. Stallone called him apollo greed.

same with bill duke....a crazy fee is requested. so far the only one interested is Billy (sonny landham)

to be honest if they aren't interested in helping out, what is my motivation for pursuing it further..

elliot and matt want it to happen

Stuff em then, damn money orientated egos.

I say we do our own Predacon, pick a regular con, and just get as many preds as possible, i mean we do not need them anyway, its "PREDACON".

not "actor who got killed by the baddest hunter ever in a film con"

( yes i know the sdcc /dcon / irish guys/ london shows and nycc preds do this anyway, but it would be cool to try get us all in one place.

since the bigger cons are getting harder and harder to actually get tickets, it might be worthwhile to pick a con on the smaller side.
