MR Falcon owners - HELP!

I wouldn't even worry about trying to replace it Jason, I'm on my third one for mandible LED issues, at this point I don't care if they all go out, I'm not sending another falcon back.:p Seeing my luck and others luck with the lights you might very well get another one that could end up going out in the future. I'm just happy to have one at all and don't care about the lights anymore, never really use em anyway.

Keep emailing Amy till he does. A gentle reminder is always understood... or helpful even if annoying :))

You're right, Tony.
I've emailed MR Customer Service with a message for Jerry.

and a few hours later I have a reply and my labels printed for the model's return!

Many thanks to Amy and Jerry. Just a couple of questions and we're moving forward.
Great service MR!

Great Howard. Just an FYI I mailed mine back for similar problems last week and Jerry emailed me today to let me know the replacement Falcons will be in stock and shipping in about 7 days.

Man, I already miss having it around! I look forward to getting back on display!

Thanks for the info, vaderperp!
Tony - yes indeed, I'm very pleased with the way this is going!

I e-mailed them about a replace ment Radar dish a few weeks ago. Hopefully they can send me out one.

Now if I could just get me a name plaque....

I've just spoken to Justin at cardsinc. He needs to verify everthing's on the level with MR, then we can arrange a pick-up from FedEx. :)

Hey, no kidding but have tried spinning the falcon while it's attached to the base? Mine went out and I rotate the model on the base a little and they came on and stayed on. Not sure this will help though but thought I toss it in.

I just got a base for mine. I placed it on a coffee table I got and it hung over the edges. The only way the lights would work is if I tilted the ship. So I turned the ship so it ran parallel with the table length wise and it lights like a pro!

If only MR would send me a dish, it would be in near perfect shape.

Mine is exactly the same way. It's the connector rather than the LEDs.

Dave :)

That makes sense. LEDs are normally not prone to failure provided that they are not overheated during soldering nor excessively overdriven ( too much current or 'forward bias'.)

In any circuit, before suspecting component failure, the first things to check for are breaks in traces/wiring and or bad or loose solder joints/connections at the connector. Connectors are more prone to failure if there is additional strain placed on the contacts or an intermittent condition such as the one you describe will occur if strain causes improper mating and contact of pin(s) with their sockets.

My bird's being picked up tomorrow for its return to MR.

At this stage I'd like to say a very big thank you to Justin at cardsinc and Jerry at MR. They've both worked hard to solve this problem for me.

THANKS GUYS! :thumbsup

Howard. :)

Howard,

I know it is a story you probably would not hvae liked to tell in the first place, but I just now read the thread and it is truly good news that this is going to work out for you!!

Hopefully you will have a new falcon quite soon!

Please post pics :)

Good luck,

Tom

Thank goodness! Glad to hear it is working out!

Ill keep my fingers crossed for them to be sending you a good one! :)

(Edit I just passed 3000 posts! man Im here too much! LOL!)

Thanks for the well wishes guys!

I've just heard from cardsinc that the Falcon is with them, ready for its return to MR. They've informed MR they have it - so hopefully my replacement will be with me in a week or so.
I've emailed Jerry with a couple of pictures from my first post to point out the problems, and to see if my replacement can be examined for identical errors before it ships, as I wouldn't want to have to return another.

I must say a big thank you to Justin and Jerry again for working with me with this.

I'll post pics when my new birds lands!

Howard. :)

I've just received my replacement and it's OUTSTANDING!
No problem with the mandible - the gap on the mandible edge is still there, but it's far less than the one I sent back and hardly noticable.

A very very big thank you to Amy and Jerry at MR!!! :thumbsup

It's an AP - less the plaques.

I'll post a couple of pics as soon as I'm able.
