MR CloneTrooper Helmet ARRIVES !! PICS !!!

Maybe someone will have to make another fan made version that has the correct proportions like the MR, but a little larger to make it more wearable

I bet somebody has, but that kind of thing doesn't appear to be very welcome here. Besides this was supposed to be a thread about the MR helmet, you know "hey everybody, check it out."

Huh? :confused

I think having the option of an MR or Fanmade helmet is great.
The shorter Temuera sized clones have the MR's to wear and the bigger guys have the fanmade helmets to wear. Both look great in their own repects.
The Fx tk helmet looks good on people 6'10" and up. Not bobble head at all. But as soon as someone my size(5'8") puts it on look out i'm mr. potatoe head......
My point is that MR did an excellent job on a helmet. And it works great for us smaller guys. And the bigger guys can just display it(which most ALL of us will do anyways). And the fanmade helmets fills in the need for a fairly accurate need for a bigger bucket.
Options are good...... no?
In fact i would take chicken over fish at the buffet, because its what i like, works for me. get it??

You just can't please everyone.

If we want screen accurate (or in this case CG Accurate), it's give and take. It's still in proportion with someone of Temura's stature. This would be no different than if MR made a Jango Helmet, and us 6 FT 2 + guys couldn't wear it ... Perhaps it's time us bigger dudes to start entertaining the idea of wearing suits that are more suited to our individual body type. I don't see MR making a Large, Medum, and Small. It just wouldn't be accurate anymore, would it ? In my opinon only, I think they did a kick a$$ job with what they had to work with ...

FP

**EDIT**

If there is this much heat over the Clone bucket, wait until the ROTS Vader Helmet starts shipping .
I would bet there won't be many Prowse sized dudes trying to lube themselves up to get that thing on :lol

To quote a fan made ROTS trailer parody ...

The truth is ILM scaled down the heads on the CG clones unrealistically so they'd look good in armor and not so "bobble head". Compared to average human proportions they are pin headed. I recall MR stated their clone helmet is actually upsized a bit compared to what a movie accurate helmet would be just to make it somewhat more realistic.

that explains why i thought they looked about the size of a normal human head.
I think the debate about size is over as long as this post is true. lonepigeon not being known for his fraudulant, inaccurate information, i think we can trust this.
I think those who think it seems small are thinking that because it is probably one of the smallest helmets there is, and they're not used to seeing that. even at cons, it may look out of the ordinary to see these becasue we are used to the large helmets. but go watch the movie again. the helmets fit very tightly.

and by the way i really want to see one of these weathered and worn with some sweet clonesix armor.

"Anyway, to keep it respectful here, I am just debating the point that MR has provided a tardy, incorrectly painted, over-priced and unwearable helmet."

I LOVE that over-priced line. :lol
I paid $280 for my MR Clone bucket, with a stand, with the CG files being used in the creation of the helm, with a build quality higher (and in fiberglass) than the fan made versions which are too big.

You go find me a fan made trooper bucket, in fiberglass, WITH the fit and finish of the MR version, for under 300 bucks and I will produce a living T-Rex for you.
With the specialty helmets, the price is based on the limited edition aspect. If that's a new idea to anyone I would be surprised.

Do I have mine yet? No. Do I troop? No. Do I care? No.
I have patience.

Don't like it? Don't buy it. But don't stand in here and act as some beacon of honesty while at the same time slapping people who think, and rightly so, that the MR version is superior to the fan made ones (so far).

As it stands you don't even seem to have any money vested in ANY of the MR helmets that are up for discussion here, so why do you care? Just go and troop and be happy.

Just keeping it respectful.

Right. Despite being 10-15% too small I love my MispaintedPinHeadKidCloneTrooper "As Kinda' Built" bucket, I really do. I already have the SpecOps and Shock on order. No interest in the plain jane. I can't wait to see the horrified looks on peoples faces when compared to a TK helmet live & in person. The MR is a wonderful shelf helmet, excellently proportioned, great finish aside from marking inaccuracies (white is a safer choice in that respect). I want MR to make MORE, MORE, MORE helmets too. The Rocketeer inaccuracy didn't dissaude me, the missize on these won't either.

However, I think I'll wait for the Collector's Edition (unlimited qty) on this one.

In all honesty, I love T-rex. They are really so cool. Did you see that T-rex fight scene in King Kong? He whipped those dinosaurs A's pretty well. OK...back to topic.

This MR vs. fan-made has turned into a debate... and I agree and believe there are 2 uses for helmets, collecting and trooping. I troop, and it does make me happy.

I will add $280 is a great price for a shelf decoration...but most customers of MR have to pay full retail plu shipping. It also would be nice that the paint scheme would be correct, even if new in appearance. Who knows, MR may revise this and these irregulars will be more valuable in the future.

Also, I have been trying to be honest (a beacon, I am not), but a lot of folks are attacking me for debating the issue...and I am just defending myself. You (and several others in this topic) "may" think I am an A-hole (or whatever), but I am not going to let anyone believe I am wimp or thin skinned, I just have to check remarks in kind...even if it is from a RPF long timer. Sure, call me newbie. Sure call me a TDH outcast... Actually, I am just a Star Wars guy. I have not met anyone that knows more about it than me...in person...yet.

I do want to address why I would not get an MR helmet on a more base level. Why should I vest money into MR, especially since I predict most of the people that have roasted me here in open forum are MR reps, or are on the payroll or MR in some way.

I was warned by a friend that a roasting could happen if I expressed my honest opinion on RPF. Well, I have opinions. Do I have 4,000 posts here? No. Do I have knowledge, skills, a prop collection, a ridiculous toy collection, rare items, autographs, pictures of my children sitting on the lap of Dave Prowse, Ray Park, Jeremy Bulloch? Yes.

I am new here and the welcome has been...unusual. <-- unusual = _ _ _ _ _ _ .

As for my fan-made helmet, I was treated with kindness and courtesy when I opted for it. I was able to wear it 3 months ago. I won first place in the Halloween Costume Contest in it. Many of my friends that troop in clone armor prefer it.

Lukes Roommate, I do not know you, and I hope that this message reaches you, and you read it with objectivity.

Regards,

John

Let me clarify. A person gets flamed for a dissenting opinion all the time here. Whether the subject is Clone Helmets, Vader, Fettled tumblehomes, whos the expert of *this*, who has the upper hand with jet engine parts, or whatever the discovery or auction purchase of the week is. If the prop isn't 100% screen accurate, the consensus on the RPF is that it isn't worth a snot. The only stuff that gets approval from the self-appointed RPF board of elders is if an item is screen used, or a copy of screen used, or if you are "in the club".

In the case of this Clone Helmet, its the assumption that these helmets were made from CGI files from the film, and machined into a tangible item. No other helmet, fan-made or otherwise will ever be at the standards that have been foisted by the RPF elders, so what would be the motivation to bring it here to show? It'll only get ripped for not being accurate.

If somebody does an accurate drawing of the Millenium Falcon, is it a replica of the Millenium Falcon, only in pencil or oil paint? Would it be deemed garbage because the landing gear is off, or because you can't see the dice through the window of the cockpit?

But - make the Falcon as a 3-d item, looks great, but missing some minor detail you would be a fool to show it off here.

Here's a screen cap from ROTS:

Good thing MR had more than this scene to base their helmet on.
