Limited Run Leia and Chewie ANH brass handcuffs

Hi there,
There is just a little bit more than 1 day left for the interest period. After this, i close it and order material, I will not revisit that project afterwards, if you are seriously interested about that prop, please post now if you don't want to miss out.
thank you

Interest is now closed. Fewer numbers than I expected, especially with all people that voted for this project last summer, but it is what it is!
I'll order material now and do my best for the Chewie size, but no promises there.
Thank you to all that signed up :)
Cheers

Hi there,

First update!

I explained for the prototyping that one of the biggest difficulties for this project was sourcing the material. It is a very big and unusual size so my normal supplier didn't have it and I didn't find anything online at first, so I had to contact several suppliers to ask them if they had that size by any chance even if it wasn't listed on their website.
Eventually, with one supplier, after 5 mails, they said they had the size despite telling me they didn't before. They had a 260cm length of that size and I ordered 35cm to see the actual material and make the prototype with it, knowing that if it worked, there would be enough left to do 20 more pairs of handcuffs.
That brings us to the day I closed interest and asked them if they had more of that size as I had more interest than anticipated, and if not, i would take the whole length they had left of what I bought before. To that mail, they answered "we don't have that size in stock, we will ask our supplier and get back to you soon." Period.
I immediately responded, "do you mean you don't even have the length of tube you had early january from which I bought 35cm?" and I never got an answer...
And yesterday since they still didn't "get back to me soon". Well, I wrote again, and asked again if they could at least sell me that length they had before, that I made my whole project counting on that size and length they had and had 38 customers waiting for me to do those things, so I was seriously counting on them.
To which they replied, yes, we have that tube and our supplier doesn't make that size again. It's very weird how they both time first didn't have what I needed, and after several mails, they had it. I don't know if several people are answering the mails but they are not super serious about their job.

So, I'm really sorry for the late comers, but I asked them to buy that length immediately and that will be already around 20-21 pairs of each size and we will have to do with this knowing that we came very close to canceling the project entirely this time o_O

SO, to recap, I paid for the material finally! and we are already 2 weeks late because that supplier is very difficult to communicate with sadly! But the project is finaly a GO!

cheers all :)

My heart sank at the beginning of that post lol

Very glad to hear it’s still set to move forward! (And glad I finally get to participate in one of your project runs  …I ALWAYS see them too late)

sorry for the fright, believe me, when I received that email, "we don't have that size in stock", my heart sank too! damn, the communication skills of some professionals!

Hi there :)

alright! I finally received the brass tube and can call this project started!

that tube is 36kg! I needed my wife to help me put it on the saw and even struggled to unpack it with my damn bad back!

Hi there,
I have cleaned up all the rings on the lathe and made them all the exact needed size, like I said before, pretty much the maximum size for my lathe

I have made a habit of saving all the brass and bronze metal shavings when I work on project like this, I hope one day i'll be able to melt them into something, brass and bronze are expensive, would be a pity to waste all that material.

Man I can’t believe I missed this, the past couple months just flew by. If a Chewy spot opens up I’ll gladly take it.
