Don't forget I put a Tutorial Video on Youtube on how to complete your Glaive....post pics! I'm so scared to start on mine because I don't have steady hands and have never used gold leaf before.
Yep I've watched it at least five times lol. I'm more worried about steady hands and a fine brush to do the symbols. May need to get my buddy who's a game miniature painter to do it for me haha.Don't forget I put a Tutorial Video on Youtube on how to complete your Glaive....

Arrggghhhhh! I've tried to resist getting this but I would absolutely kick myself if I missed out and the opportunity didn't arise again.UPDATE:

I finally started on my glaive kit last night. I chickened out and used gold paint pens instead of gold leaf.
Instead of off white I used a darker gold that in person looks more bronze-ish. I was going off of the prop auction photos where the white had drastically discolored over the years. I’ll probably redo this part if I can find a close enough color

Tree House Studios gold paint marker that I got at a hobby store years ago. But I'd assume any of them would work. That looks amazing. Could you provide the name of the gold paint pen you used?
I got a shadow box from Amazon and used several cubicle style hangers to hold it there.I'd still love to see examples of how people are displaying or placing this once its done. I've stopped building mine until I can figure out how I'm going to display it. I might try 3d printing some kind of stand.
What kind of holders are those?I got a shadow box from Amazon and used several cubicle style hangers to hold it there.
The box: Amazon.com

Exactly like those actually. I had to tweak them a little. I used pliers to make hook a little wider and the default pins are slilghtly too deep for the back of shadow box. Just enough to poke holes in the back. So shorter nails/pins might work better if you can find them. There are other types out there that would probably work but I had those at the time.
To dull the blades a little, you could possibly try a fine steel wool. Might give it that more satin finish. But. you'd have to be super careful as you wouldn't want to go through the chrome.I finally started on my glaive kit last night. I chickened out and used gold paint pens instead of gold leaf.

I went off of the color as it appeared here and thought a darker gold might actually look pretty good. I'm undecided on it.

Side question. Anyone have any tips for how to dull/tarnish the chrome blades to make them more closely resemble steel? I'm all about weathering it to make it look old and used as well. I was thinking of applying some acrylic washes to the blades to dirty them up a bit.

I'm also very interested to see everyone's display ideas. I'll most likely be sending this to my father for his birthday (it was one of our favorite movies to watch together when I was a kid). so I'll want to include a way for him to display it, either a stand or shadow box.
