Brings a joy to my heart to see my thread finally flower into what I hoped for

Even I'm still learning. I never really notice how clean the grill is on the original compared to the SL. I googled images of original casts and those grills are just as rough as mine are. What caused the extra detail on the SL?

Are the SL casts the only ones from the Rick Baker mold that shows this roughness? I understand the efx was cleaned up so if the roughness was there, they probably would have removed it. What about the others?

From what I am hearing about how Thomas has taken people's money and run, he's got a dishonest streak in him so I wouldn't be surprised by anything I hear about his actions now.
You're not imagining it. That is also in the Arnaud Grunberg collection. Here's some photos I saved when it was on ebay. I saved a lot of photos from ebay back in the day but couldn't afford to buy any of it.

Hey hey a VP thread.
Who would have believed it after all these years VP threads would make a come back.
The VP is a great faceplate. Even though it is cleaned up it still has a pile of details other helmets don't have - like the eye lenses with the original tool marks in the adhesive around where the lens meets the mask, mouth grill still in place just a few of the items that are missing from other facemasks.
One thing I do remember was the VP mask was cast from a helmet at Elstree used by the art department when ESB was being made (which I think Dano already touched on) so when It came to getting a full Vader replica helmet made and the ROTJ screen helmet was available there was no point in casting the ROTJ faceplate with the risk of damage when they already had the VP mask - but the tusks were cast from the screen ROTJ helmet as well as the dome - sure that was the story anyway.
This thread is also probably the reason why so many people have PMd me about my VP out of the blue - I knew something was going on somewhere
Yeah but no but yeah but no................... so finally somebody who knew what VP stood for eventually posted it.
I remember people guessing over the years things like Vader Police, Vader Perfection and a pile of other mad guesses. Not realising it was just a joke between me and Dano when he was subjected to mega grillings about the face plate by the Vader nutters
