Defiance

And now, some fan art.

Whoops, CB2001 has corrected me, these are actually official promos created by the studio.

Here's a fridge magnet set being sold at the NBC store. I noticed that it had a couple of poster versions that I haven't seen before.

A town map from the studio tour.

Actually, the Hellbugs and the Gulanite posters are not fan made. They were official promos created for the show. I've seen them around the time of the show's release for the first season.

I've snagged some of the signage pics from the auction. By the way they look, they look like they are made from foam core or corrugated plastic.

Thanks for the heads up CB, I've edited my post.

By the way, I've been meaning to ask you, how did you come across those Twitter feeds? Did you do a search or follow a link? I ask because I'm always looking for new search tips.

You're welcome. :)

I came across them during the third season, when I started following Kevin Murphy's twitter (Murphy's the show's co-creator and writer) and he shared one of the artwork. As for search using, I did try to see if there was anymore, so I used "Defiance, graphic artist", "Defiance, production design" and "Defiance, art director" to see if anything else came up.

I also found some pre-production art for the game and show on a website outside of the Twitter feed, here: https://www.artstation.com/search?q=Defiance

Here's a couple of pieces of art that was featured in the show, namely, at the NeedWant (NOTE: If you're not a fan of artistic nudes that really don't show anything, then do not view):

Another Datak Tarr voting poster:

This could be used for a replica of the Soldiers Needed poster from Season 3:

Thanks for that CB, it really does help.(y))

You're welcome, Bear. TBH, I'm looking around Google right now, trying to see if there's a free paper craft model of the Gateway Arch (unfortunately, there's only one I can find, but you have to buy it. May be worth the $1.50 for it).

I know this is an old post, but I've got a replica photo of the Iron Demons as seen from the game version of Defiance. I've managed to get the WAD files unpacked, which includes textures. I upscaled this image. Just needs a frame and you'll have a replica of the Iron Demons that Cooper has at his ranch. I have also included the original version of the image (labeled as unknown(1) ), in case you want something smaller. I may upload more from the game here. Not sure if any fans of the show still exist here at the RPF, but this is gonna be here in case anyone wants it.

So, a while ago, I posted a bunch of images, one of them including a Wanted Poster for Doc Ywell. I noticed the image was rather small, so I've attempted to try to do upscaling on it like I did with the Iron Demons picture above. I've used two different sites to try these, hopefully they're useful in one way or another. I can't tell which one is the better one, but if y'all can, let me know.

I still have this show bookmarked on my Android Box along with The100 and Falling Skies. Defiance is still one of y favourite shows to revisit.

The game’s community still has a heartbeat too. There are users who are not only reverse engineering the original game to try to get it to run again (so far, the game world is accessible once more), but are also plan to remake the game using the game assets a new game engine. And, I too have the show downloaded onto my iPad so I can watch it whenever I’m at work if I get bored watching something else.

Never realised there was a game version or I may have looked into it.

The show and game was a transmedia experience, where you could view the show and play the game. Both the game and show had crossover events, often with characters and situations crossing over. For example, when players started the game, they are first introduced to Nolan and Irisa on board a Stratocarrier that is leading all Arkhunters into the Bay. They steal a Libera-Nova gem from a local crime lord Varus Soleptar (who is one of the many factions in the San Francisco area) and they leave the Bay in their episode mission. One week later is when the events of the show’s pilot episode occurs, which Nolan and Irisa uses the gem to get the terrasphere from the show’s first arkfall (which is used to help save the town from destruction by the Volge. Another example is the character of Ryan. She starts off in the show, then shows up in the game for a couple of missions (one of them involving Hellbugs, which ties into the show‘s Hellbug episode) and then returns back to the show. Another Episode mission took place during the plague episode of Season 1 (in the show, Yewll mentions getting in contact with a colleague in the Bay, and that they’d be using an ICBM to develop the cure. In the game, you get to hear that message and help local Indogene doctor Erin Niden secure the ICBM and get the plague cure launched to Defiance).

There has been a couple of times where there was a failure in communication between the show’s makers and the game’s makers (in the Season 2 episode, Painted from Memory, there is a closing scene that takes place in San Francisco, but the bridge featured is an earlier version of the bridge model. The earlier version would have shown the bridge completely intact with some additional addons. But in the game, half of the bridge is buried in terraform Earth while the other half is damaged and serves as a ramp into San Francisco). There wasn’t much in means of Episode Missions tie-ins with Season 3 (this was around the time that Trion Worlds started having issues within the company). Unfortunately, the game is no longer around (and ran longer than the show did). Both the show and the game fall into being screwed by the network/parent game company.

I just finished a re-watching of this & loved every minute of it. I have a thing for fictional elections so it's wonderful to see high res scans of these! I'm going to see if I can get them printed in high quality card

Welcome to the RPF, RX. As you've probably noticed from my many replies here, I am a fan of both the show and the game (which unfortunately closed down back in 2021). I also own four different screen used/production made items from the actual show (no election cards, just a map of the town). I'm glad to see the show is still finding an audience despite how it was cancelled after three seasons and the game being gone. I also copied the lore of the show and game that was originally on the long defunct Defiance website, which you can view here if you'd like to. I hope you continue to enjoy your time here at the RPF. :D
