Interest DaveP's V2 and V3 run - 2024

Good job on the D rings, very impressive jig!
Thanks Matthieu! Appreciate it. It's been a long wait, but definitely worth it for the results I think (y)
Hey Dave. So sorry to spam this thread but are you going to restock Yumas next year?
Hi Ron,

No worries at all. I do have a handful of Yumas still available that I can put together after this run (y)

Just no time at the moment to do anything with them.

I do have some parts in stock though, so will add them to my store at some point next year.

DaveP Hi Dave, sent you a PM via Facebook

Hey Jamie. Just replied (y)

............

No big Update this week folks. I hope that's ok...

I'm in full shipping mode so EXTREMELY busy getting orders out to people.

DIY Kits have left the building (y)

Batch One are finished and booked in. (Mostly packaged up and ready to go out in tomorrow's collection!)

I'll be packaging up Batch Two as I apply final finishing touches.

Expect Tracking details to be sent out this week for batch two as I get those booked in with UPS. (y)

Batch Three is running slightly behind schedule unfortunately, but I'm expecting to get caught up once I'm done packing/shipping, and as soon as I'm back to focussing on a single batch.

I'll post another large update at the end of this week to let everyone know where things stand (y)

Hope that's ok. everyone.

Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Back to it....

MTFBWY,

Dave

**UPDATE**

Hi Everyone.

Hope you've all had a great week.

Just a very brief update this week, light on the text, but plenty of pictures this time. :)

As I mentioned in previous update, I've been in full packing/shipping mode this week!

It's been a huge undertaking, but all of Batch One has now left the building and the first transport is away!

We got a relatively clear day on Thursday, so I took the opportunity to get a few pictures.

I thought it would be cool to see the Sandstorm, Throne Room, and Current day V2 alongside my motorised Obi Stunt. Still a WIP and currently "Un-motorised", but just for visual purposes it made for some cool pictures:

There are also a fair few Production V3s now on their way too, but managed to snap a few pictures of one with it's Otis style board installed before sending out:

There were no NASA builds in Batch One but I have one nearing completion for Batch Two, so will have a side by side comparison as part of the next update (y)

I'm still a little bit behind schedule obviously, but it's a huge relief to have gotten the first full batch out to everyone.

I'm now moving on to shipping out Batch Two! This involves some finishing touches, as I work my way through them, so please bare with me.

You can expect to receive your tracking numbers this week though (y)

I'm obviously a bit behind with Batch Three, which should have been nearing completion towards the end of this month. Please do not despair!

This past couple of weeks have been intense, as I've been working on getting DIY Kits / Batch One / Batch Two all finished up in one go. This was due to the delays with the clamps, and then the rings (now resolved).

Once I'm back to working on a single batch at a time, I'll soon catch up and have everything back on track (y)

I'm just very pleased to have finally got the first finished commissions out of the door, and I could not be more pleased with how they turned out. :)

I hope that as they arrive in their new homes, they bring you all as much joy as I've had putting them together.

Signing off for now, but wishing you all a great weekend!

All the best, and as always, MTFBWY!

Dave

Oh, and just a PSA:

** There are a few V3 commission slots available still for Pre-Order as part of Batch Six (February 2025). **

Another great update. Lovely to read how much you’re enjoying making these V2/3s just makes them all the more special - can’t beat working away while it’s snowing outside. Enjoy mate (y)

I received my Throne Room V2 and Production V3 a few days ago - And I can say for a fact that these are beautifully made hilts. I had bought from a Yuma, ISYHCANL, and V1 from Dave back from his 40th Anniversary Hero Run and I was so amazed by the craftsmanship of those hilts. I am really happy to have all of these displayed together. Needless to say, the clamps that came with the V2 and V3 are some of the best Graflex clamps I've ever held. Fantastic work on those.

If you are still waiting for yours, or still debating getting on on the last few remaining V3 spot - I can assure you that you will not regret getting in on this run, they are perfection from top to bottom.
Thank you Dave for these beautiful pieces, and keep up the good work! You truly are a gem in this community.

Awesome! I'm temporarily in an AirBnb while my wife and I close on our next house so it shames me to have my new V2 packed away after receiving it :(. But I hope to have a setup as cool as this in the next place.

Is there any specific reason for the gaffer tape texture change between the first and subsequent batches DaveP? Love it either way! Was just curious  Thanks again!

Hi Andy.

The cloth tape that I use has changed ever so slightly. This change happened prior to sending out any kits or commissions for this run though. I guess it is a little thicker, and softer than the previous one I've used. No specific reason for this change, other than the fact that my supplier has changed the tape that they send out. I placed a repeat order in the lead up to finishing up the first batch / Kits and this is the one that arrived.

To be honest, I felt that the earlier tape from my previous run (and some of the mock up pictures) was maybe a little thinner than I would have liked, so actually prefer this newer stuff. I'm always on the lookout for the perfect alternative, but as yet this is the best option I've found so far.

Hope you like it in any case.

All the best,

Dave

Hello everyone.

I hope that you're all well and looking forward to the festive season!

It's time for another update on the run.

I'm happy to say that Batch Two has finally left the building!

Not quite so happy that we're still behind schedule, but I am happy to see another batch of finished commissions departing for their new homes at least.

good news.gif

I'm sorry for the delay in getting this batch finished and sent out (the sending out part takes up a lot of time), and the knock on effect it has on the subsequent batches.

As with all artworks, there is a reluctance to call it finished.

There is always an urge to continue tinkering/refining.

Eventually though, you have to send them out in to the world!

I would like to reassure everyone on the run that regardless of how behind I might get at times, I NEVER rush. I would rather put in more hours than have to rush or lower my standards.

I really do agonise over each and every detail though.

In all my years of doing these, this has always been the preferred approach for those taking part in these runs.

So I thank you once again for your patience!

There is a limit to how many extra hours are available though, and there is a point at which there are diminishing returns. It is far better to be running at 100% with adequate down time, than it is to be working every hour on empty batteries.

With that said, I did indeed put in a lot of additional hours this past week in order to get everything finished up and sent out before Christmas. All whilst also organizing the next two batches, as well as getting some pictures for this update (See below).

It's been intense for sure, and not helped by a short bout of seasonal man-flu! I'm definitely ready for a short break over the holidays!

I am very much aware that batches three and four are now behind schedule though! This is something that I am working towards rectifying as soon as possible!

Batch Three is underway and takes priority of course, but where appropriate, I will be ticking off some tasks for batch four. For example, I am working on clamps for both of these batches simultaneously, so that they can be plated together (first week of January). Parts for both batches have been picked out and organised. Harvesting/finishing boot studs, cutting / weeding stencils, forming D-Rings, etc. Tasks like these will be completed for both batches. Then, when it comes to paining/finishing, Batch Three will be completed and sent out as soon as possible.

Batch four will then be ready to hit the ground running!

At some point over the holidays, I will be sending out final invoices for Batch Three. This is purely for my own peace of mind. It puts the orders on to the system (Xero) and I’m then able to keep track of everything from there. Please bear in mind that you are under no obligation to pay this invoice until the work is completed and ready to send! You are of course free to do so any time between now and then, but I’ll be in touch to let you know when everything is ready to go.

I am away for a couple of days next week with my daughter, but will be busy either side of that trip, continuing to work towards the completion of Batch Three. Over the holiday period I will be working when I can to get Batch Three and Four Clamps formed and ready for plating in the first week of January.

I am still determined to get caught up with the original schedule in the new year!

I took the opportunity this week to get some comparison shots of the two V3 weathering options. It was really great to finally get a NASA version completed and to see it alongside the Production / “Throne Room” variant!

The above, along with the rest of Batch Two are now working their way across the globe to their new homes. I’m so excited for you to receive them and hope that they meet your expectations.

I’m going to sign off for now, but will be back with another update soon! At least one more before Christmas!

There are still a handful of pre-orders available on the store for V3 commissions. These will obviously fall in to the final batch (early 2025)

I have a couple of potential projects in the running for mid/late 2025. As yet, I’m still undecided on which direction to take. I do have a personal project in the works that I have mentioned previously, but this is potentially a loooong term project! I’ll continue to chip away at this behind the scenes, but it’s unlikely to be ready to go in time for the end of this current run.

I do receive a lot of requests to revisit previous runs, as well as to finally announce my installable Yuma/ISYHCANL/Hero. This is designed and ready to go, but it was designed specifically to house a crystal chamber, which is still in the design stages. It’s possible that this could be the better option for my next run.

I could potentially do a couple of mini-runs of previous projects too over the course of next year.

I will give this some serious thought over the holidays...

For now though, I will sign off and get back to it!

I hope you’re all having a relaxing weekend and looking forward to the holidays!

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

All the best, and MTFBWY,

Dave

The sense of magic and wonder I get when looking at these images, Dave, is an oder of magnitude Harry Potter raised to the power of Gandolf. Pictures are worth a thousand words? These are worth a million that I just can't find, because the beauty leaves me speechless mate. Top drawer this is, top top drawer.

Art isn't to be rushed. Please enjoy your holidays and break. TY for what you bring and who you are.

Hi Dave sent a private message thanking you but just wanted to say thanks again for all your time and effort in putting these amazing replicas together. The v2 commission you did for me is stunning and is the second lightsaber of yours that I am proud to own in my collection cheers Jan. All the best for Christmas and the new year.
