Custom suit build the Knarley Mofo Elder WIP

Spent some time building my card version of the blade housing, just need to resin and rondo it up now and start to get it where I wanting for detailing and adding some Star Wars parts I've been collecting. Gotta stay true and give a nod to the original.

I've finalised the shape of my blades just gotta cut them out of acrylic and get em shaped up. I'm gonna also go for fixed blades at the min.

I've also got hold of a Wolf comp gaunt that'll need customising the hell out of as the casting has lost most of the detail and has some warping. Pics of that later.

I've also started to fettle around with my torso and lost a few of the seems. Need to finish off seeming and start to foam out the muscles so they don't fold so much when I bend and move around. I've got myself a zipper just need to sew it in after I ask my wife to help me to work out if its to tight or to loose. I was gonna use nylon thick thread and sew it in using a large gauge sewing needle and the with thickened latex loose the stitches on the exposed areas? What do all the pros do? I was also toying with the idea of cutting the preformed armour and sculpting my own over the top and then making in resin and the fixing back on so it looks separate. The current armour has been foam filled already with quite stiff foam. It's got some flex but not much.

That's it for now let's hope I can get some more done soon before the weather turns in Blighty. I know I said its a long slow build but I was hoping to have it for some of the 2015 cons. Oh we'll slowly slowly catchy monkey my nan use to say. Doesn't also help that work has dried up and money is getting tighter than a nuns chuff. So to everyone I've contacted recently about other parts for my build. I do wan them just need to pay the bills first and get some doe saved up. Birthday and crimbo fingers crossed.

Cheers matie, as long as your in for a slow burn. I'll. get there but it may take me a while.

Tonight I resined my card stock blade housing. It's curing in the workshop, fingers crossed it'll be a lot more ridgid so I can start to sculpt and detail it an add the rondo on the back for strength.

Awesome work on your AVP Cannon!
Cheers buddy, I'll be getting back on that soon as I've collected some more bits and pieces over the last few months to finish it off.

Question all, if my workshop is below 12 degress and I have no heat source in it will my laminating resin cure I've used to stiffen my card stock blade housing? As it's still tackey?

EDIT, spoke to some pals on FB ands hey suggested having a go with a heat gun on low. It's started to stiffen up so fingers crossed it'll be ridgid by the morning. It kick starts the curing process.
If it's curred tommorow all I've gotta do is plug some holes with epoxy putty and then pore in some Rondo to make it more robust so I can start to detail and flat it back to the shape I want it.

Not so good news, the heat gun did make it firm up but it just peeled straight off. So I made up another card master shape and heated up my workshop with a oil filled rad for a few hrs. I gave it another go and this time laid in some fibreglass fabric I had left over from my Jason mask. It worked a treat. It soaked into the card and fully cured. So well I run in the rondo the next night to give added rigidity. Kin ell that stuff heats up fast. It's left in the workshop until I can get back in there to start on the fetteling and making it look like a blade housing and not a hamster coffin as my nephew calls it. Pics to follow when I've got something more than the hamster coffin to show you.

No update on the hamsters coffin, still gettin the shape right as the rondo distorted the shape a little.

But I have been refettling away on my bio and using my new dremmel skills from when I did my Freddy Vs Jason final fight mask. Also I made a few additions to the bio.......... Pics soon as I've finished..............

Also gotta do a weight total for suit so far.

Right, I've redone most of the savage batle damage and depend the rest, I've then repainted all damage and washed it darker with and then added a lighter highlight around the peripheral edges. I then fitted some fine mesh from behind where I had dremmeled through. To give kind of a tech feel to it as if some of the workings of the bio are showing through. Also dremmeld out the two nose sections either side of the yo yo and put in some uber microscopic fine mesh, fingers crossed it'll help with the steaming up of the lenses.

I've also if you've not guessed by now added a berserker jaw.

I had a beserker jaw from some Pred stuff I won on fleabay ages ago. The fella had some extras not listed so I snapped them up as well. He was gonna add it to a P1. So I had a thought, let's beserker up my Celtic a Elder. I couldn't work out how to do it until I recently research how to make mould. So I tried the silicone caulk meathod. and hay presto a stretched jaw.

The dread beads are just chucked on to see how it looked.

Let me know what you all think if it's a keeper or not?

The Celtic bio of AVP is very similar to the Gort (for me).
In P1 the first bio Winston's team did made was the Gort.
It was not used, becauce it's the mechanical interpretation of the Predator face.
That's what I read about the Gort in the Winston Effect.

The Berserker jaw on the Celtic is just too much! --> Metal skull face with bone jaw
It's like the T-800 Terminator wears a Punisher-Shirt.
Less is more in this case.
Better reuse the jaw as shoulder-armor.

Everything else on your Celtic-bio is top-notch!

That jaw has a great organic profile. But from the front it looks machined on, flat, too squarish like it was mashed to fit the helmet exactly where those outer teeth frame the contures of the mask. If you rounded it out a little so the teeth set on a slight curve, I could see the piece working. But personally I'm not a fan of the berserkers. Love the Celtic mask though (and the Gort concept).

Can't wait to see how the rest of the build progresses!

The chin of the Celtic-bio is very wide,
in addition to the berserker-jaw almost as wide as the forehead.

But the jaw of the prototype Berserker-bio would look pretty good on the celtic.

Here is a pic of the Hird Celtic-bio without the tubes.
This way the fangs on the cheeks look bigger.

http://fs1.directupload.net/images/141206/z4yfdaos.jpg

Photoshoped the nose a bit, so the bio looks more like a skull.

My suggestion: Leave the jaw and trim the nose and tubes a bit.

Have this modelkit-parts (alternative nose and tubes), think they would look cool on your bio.
If you like I can send them to you.

The Berserker Jaw. Cheers all for your comments and views, I take em all on board. But it's really growing on me..... Still TBC on this one.

My little fella has let me have a few evenings in my workshop. So I've been fettling away on my hamster coffin. Filling to get it back straighter. I think less is more with rondo. It's a big thick in places. But it's there. I've gotta trim a few more parts away and add in the details "starwars parts etc" and cut out the blade holes and we're getting somewhere. I'm making progress again. I wanna get the blade gaunt finished so I feel I'm getting closer, ever so slowly to one day making and owning a Predator suit.

The blade isn't going there it's just so you can see how far there gonna hang out. It's my card master for when I cut em out of plexyglass.

image.jpg

Blades cut and 1st of many smooth outs on one of em. Once there both nice and straight and true looking I'll givem one last final 1000 grade sand all over and then get them fitted to my blade housing. Which I've added the top side beaten metal armour to and dropped in the rear scoop.

Thats coming together nicely Tony, the only thing i would critique is the jaw bone on the bio, while i like the concept it just looks way too square dude. but thats just my opinion, the suit is yours and all that counts is the fact that you're happy with it and how it looks.

Top work fella, looking forward to seeing more progress.

Cheers Buddy thanks for the coms. I think I need to relook at the shape of the jaw, try to make it more organic.

Any more updates, been following this from the beginning. Loving the celtic red brother.. Being Celtic myself i love it :)
