Man, it looks great! Joe is painting my custom Elder (full-size). I am mesmerized at his work with every update he sends me, as well as all the different things he does for others. A true talent!

glad you guys dig it! it was fun to work on! Al did an amazing job!

and to elder14, i am not painting a 1/1 scale elder...maybe got me confused with someone else.

Look forward to seeing this completed!

Looks awesome. What about the beads in the dreads, and the mesh ? Really looks superb painted up.

Also I noticed the other day watching the end of Predator 2, there are a few different cuts to the Elder. In one cut, he has the ribs on the left hip and not the sword sheath. In another cut, the ribs are on the sword sheath. In the final cut where hes walking back to his corridor, he puts his sword on his belt, but theres no sheath at all.

Cool guys, glad you like hime.

He not finished quite yet. All the beads, netting, bones, etc... will be added by me when I get him back from Joe.

I noticed that too about the Elder in the ending of P2. His bag was switched from his left to the right in certain scenes. Probably a continuity error.

He does however have his sheath throught all the scenes. If you look closely enough, it's there.

:(

The sheath is there, but, when he walks into his doorway, and it makes the "shiiing" sound effect when he puts the sword away... you can see the blade hanging from his right hip, no sheath. Then he turns invisible. It might be an error on the part of the film makers, but, I watched it 3 times.

LOL, regardless of the movie errors, you have a wonderful piece here. NECA should make a quarter scale version of all of them. That would be awesome. They keep claiming that it costs too much to do this or that, but I remember when they released other versions of figures with multiple hands, heads, feet, etc... hell even the Wolf Predator came with alternate hands.

Well, I received the Elder back from Joe, now it's it's time to add some accesories and make some adjustments.

A little paint and gloss here and there. Beads, netting, bones, weapons and add the laser sight harware to the shoulder cannon.

Oh my... Oh my indeed. (y)

This is going to make 'The Lair' explode with chants, praises, and crying from the sheer awesomeness of it all.

Please do keep us posted with pic's. :D

When I was talking to Joe, he mentioned that the Elder's accesories had to have that used universe look....seeing as the Greyback has been around for a while.

So to achive the old used grungy look, I'm going to heavily stain some of the accesories. Alot of modelmakers use this technique to really bring out the details in model kits before they lay down a base coat.

I have about 7 or 8 different colored stains that I have picked up at lowes over the years. The one I will be using for the Elder is a dark Rosewood stain.

I dip the parts in the stain and pull it out, let the stain seep in for about a minute, then pat them dry with a paper towel. I do this 3 or 4 times to each piece to make sure the stain is penetrating the surface.

Same steps as above for the beads...

I used some bright colored wood beads and the stain really makes them look old and worn. Even the glossy colored beads get a nice coat of stain. Then I seal them with Testors Dullcote.

I made an old pop top that hangs from the Elders netting. I stained it a few times and let it dry. The look I wanted to achieve worked, it looks old and rusty.

Well heres the dreads done with all the bead work. It took a while to place them and fit them in the right places, taking them on and of the head...but overall I'm very happy with how these turned out.

When I was sculpting the added features on the face, I knew that would make or break the look of the Elder...the beads were the same way.
